So from the get-go your opener is wrong
This is what it should look like
You are also desyncing secret technique from dance which is a massive dps loss
Some rule of thumbs as subtlety:
Never cast secret technique outside of dance
Always aim to cast dance on cooldown
Aim to cast secret technique as your second spender inside each dance
Never cast cold blood without secret technique, but never delay secret technique for cold blood or vice versa unless it's 1-2 globals(e.g if you can cast secret technique as your 3rd spender inside dance to get cold blood)

Hello Rui,
Thank you so much for looking at my log; I really appreciate your insight.! Yeah, I wasn't 100% sure about the opener. I've been looking at the WoWhead, YouTube, and Method.gg, etc. Most of the stuff I researched had different openers. So I was just doing different openers and then I was just doing random stuff to try and see if my DPS/parses would increase. I will stick to the one you just listed from now on.
Is anything else major/minor or were those the only things?
Again, thank you so much for your help with logs, I really do appreciate all of the corrections!
Well if you do the things I mentioned the other things will likely fix themselves as you understand why the rotation is like it is
You do waste a lot of premeditation CPs though but that's a result of not doing shadow dance rotation correctly
I recommend reading the first dance and premeditation talents
Because of these two, in raid you'll almost always start your shadow dance with shadow dance->gloomblade->eviscerate
You generally prefer starting with 0 CP when specced into the first dance due to danse macabre, and shadow dance lasting for 8 globals so if you start with a generator you fit 4 spenders
You specifically use gloomblade because of danse macabre stacks but also because it saves your premeditation for the shadowstrike before your secret technique
If that makes sense
So after opener your dance rotations should be 0cp shadow dance->gloomblade->evis->shadow strike->secret technique->shadow strike->evis(or shadow strike if below 5cp)
You can also vanish shadow strike after secret technique to proc premeditation again for more damage(shadowstrike does 25% more damage from true stealth which doesnt trigger from dance)
and guaranteed 5+cp
Okay, perfect!
Yeah, I'm not sure why I can't wrap my head around the fact I get 4 CP from The First Dance.
Yes, that all makes perfect sense! Thank you again, you're a life saver!
I seriously can not thank you enough!
Happy to help 🙂
I can recommend getting a macro that changes shadow dance to gloomblade while in dance, that way you can press the same keybind twice to use dance->gloomblade
Very useful when playing the first dance
That would be wonderful!
Also worth noting that if you're playing silent storm talent it's worth using shuriken storm instead of gloomblade specifically in the opener to 100% guarantee the find weakness debuff for your dance window, but that's more min-max and less of an issue than the other things
/cast [stance:0] Shadow Dance; Backstab```
Okay cool! I'll worry about min-maxing once I un-fuck my opener, haha.
Yep! The biggest thing is to get your dance rotations down and making sure you set yourself up to be able to use your CD immediately as they come up
e.g refreshing slice and dice, rupture so they don't run out during dance or having to delay dance to cast them, and pooling energy slightly before dance windows(not as much of a thing with the new tier set)
and not wasting teas when symbols are coming up
Sub is almost entirely "play dances correctly while not wasting resources or delaying cds"
Sick, thank you so much for all the insight. I can tell that I have already unlocked the unused parts of my brain and i'm about to break the meters next raid once I fix everything, haha.
Okay, I thought I use SoD and TT since they both increase Damage and Mastery
Thank you for that insight!
Good luck
feel free to come back with another log after you feel like you've gotten a hang of it
Okay sick, will do!
