so I've learned I can get ravenholdt to friendly and syndicate to 2999/3000 neutral (where it caps out)

Most of the people who "didn't mind waiting" played on pservers with dumb dynamic respawns mechanics.
Also original WoW launch was small, 600k iirc, though it jumped above a million in a month or so. With all the bugs and content drops and general inexperience, vanilla was very spread out. Classic is clumped into groups clearing content at the same speed

but improved vanish + prep is usually enough to deal with mage
if you really want to deal with theim you can take Opportunity, find a good dagger and open theim with CB + Ambush into Gouge then swap to slow MH

@sharp grotto no imp ambush because ambush will be very situationnal (low armor class that is drinking, or opening with CB) and no imp Backstab because you play with Hemo (switching weapon after ambush, if you want to open ambush)
-There exist a spec that use dagger only with Prep it is called CB prep 21/8/22 (https://classic.wowhead.com/talent-calc/rogue/305300105031-3203-0502530303001) but I think it's a weaker version of 31/8/12.

No. You will be significantly gimping yourself in PvE with a PvP spec and vice versa. You lose a lot of utility in PvP by being raid spec and you lose a lot of damage output by being PvP spec in raid situations.

Bleed damage sucks compared to the combat kit. Why wait for a runout of ruptures when combat is high dps without a debuff slot and Snd is the only thing that moves CPS from one mob to the next.
But you can Respec at any time. When pvp releases WSG I'll play a few weeks that way.

So, I've been going over the Pre-Bis Lists and some of the other Phase 1 item lists on https://shadowpanther.net/armor-sets.htm
I currently don't understand why the "Phase 1 PVE Non-Shadowcraft" (which matches most pre-bis lists on other websites), is considered better than the "Phase 1 6Pc Shadowcraft " list. The stats provided by the shadowcraft list (not to mention the set bonuses) are far better. The only other downside I'm seeing is 2% less hit and 4% less crit.
