To answer your question more seriously: i assume it is a mixture of layers and not just one layer of just one type of material. The belt should both tighten and keep up the pants at the same time. The pants should not loosen themselves on their own as well tho.

there kinda comes a point where you've already looked at every combination you can really do, and you either like certain stuff or you don't, so you end up just going between the same few sets until new stuff gets added
having an alt of a new armor type can be really refreshing in that sense

True, though I have a few leather sets on diff chars that just don't work on other races body types. Just small differences can lead to way different mogs
Think worst feeling is having almost a complete set only for no belt, boots or gloves that match so you can't use it without tilting
Or the only matching piece being from vanilla so it clashes terribly. I like the bandit boots on some chars with a set but they're just too outdated to use with new pieces
