Because the post limit is 2000 characters, I decided to post my ideas for additional game modes in a different post (I hope I don’t violate any rules with this).
endless mode
A different mode that can be toggled when starting an adventure.
Instead of jumping across the map, the players stay on one map, with waves of stronger enemies spawning periodically. After every wave, some kind of special upgrade spawns, let it be a memory/essence thingy, a mini boss and such a chaos orb, hatred remnant something like that.
Additionally to the “normal” upgrades, sometimes an endless-exclusive altering thingy spawns, that allows the players to choose the next wave out of 3? provided options, choosing their reward. Through this, special enemies (like hunters or the Apollonas-enemies) can spawn.
The waves are randomised, means they can include enemies from any of the three maps or any combinations of them.
every few waves (maybe dependent on the difficulty), a boss spawns.
**challenge mode **
Similar to lucid dreams, playing challenges alters the games mechanics to make it more challenging. To beat a challenge, the player has to enter the pure white dream.
Daily or weekly challenges with set effects would work well.
Challenges offer unique buffs and debuffs to both the player and the enemies, the higher the challenges difficulty is, the more in favour of the enemies the modifications are.
Some are neutral like “double/half damage for both players and enemies”, some only affect the player like “gold drops are halved/doubled” and some affect enemies like “every enemies spawns one/two/n lesser enemies on death”
To create a challenge themselves, the player can choose from either buffs or debuffs at the start of the round or after every boss (what ever works better in testing). For every effect they choose, they receive an opposite effect of similar strength. This can be altered in or against the favour of the traveler depending on the difficulty.
