I remember when there was a time where shield were able to deflect bullets from revolvers and shotguns and that's the number one reason why me and many others used it in person versus person lobbies because it was so effective at protecting you. The shield only being able to deflect melee doesn't really work due to Delta time in animal company which is when your performance is faster than the other person's performance so you will basically will be a few seconds behind on their screen while they are a few seconds behind on your screen or the other way around so personally, I think what they should do is make it so that way it was pre-buffed
