Add like a 3rd page to the watch so you have the map, your money, then a stash page that has all the items in your backpack readily available to choose from. This is such a quality of life update this game needs. I personally hate having ro dump my whole bag just to get something i put in at the start, or having to empty my bag to put a miscellaneous item in it, to refill my bag so i can get my useful item easier later when i need it. Not being able to access my items also put me in bad spots with enemies too.
