#Question about Tilessets

I'm trying to make jagged transparent tiles that I can use to give the illusion of broken walls but I have no idea how to do it convincingly. Any advice? This is what I sort of have right now.

Feels like an artistic question 🙂 I take it we're focusing on the background, like 2 tiles left of the left stained glass window?

mhm, I have a parralax background I want to reveal, but idk how best to do it.

right. So is your complaint that the art you're using now is too blocky in its overall shape? Probably what you'll need are a bunch more "edge" pieces that are irregularly shaped

#

like you don't have many/any diagonals, but the lower inverted u seems like a place you want the wall to seem more ragged-y

#

and so if the tiles looked more connected (the tiles aren't raggedy) but the set of spaces filled with tiles were more irregular (big vertical missing streaks)

#

I think the effect would be a bit better.

#

Alternatively, think about what the tiles represent (stone walls?) and make them irregular in that there are missing blocks

#

so the way the edges go now doesn't seem physically plausible if they're brick and mortar

#

but it would if they were more blocky in the irregularity (in the fine detail; you'd have them zig/zag up and down if you wanted it to be wavier overall)
