part of my game's visuals is a VideoStreamPlayer that switches sources very often. videos take time to load, so my game sort of slows down whenever that happens. it might not be noticeable on video, but the animation on the text feels super sluggish whenever the switch happens. when i disable the switching, it feels fine.

i'd assume that when i preload the video resources, they'll be loaded once at the beginning and won't have to be loaded at all during gameplay. i tried to get that to work and it didn't. is there something wrong with my code? is it impossible to get this to work and be as snappy as i want it to? how preload video good. sorry for textwall

You'd be better off keeping a player for each video.
They are being preloaded anyway, so it won't take up any more RAM.
