AnimationPlayer node stops working when i try to set its speed to anything other than 1 if it's not looping

tried this as a solution and it has this weird effect

kind of upsetting but i ended up throwing my hands up and writing the stuff far more manually & had to make another animation that's just the same but backwards. but its not that bad. setting this as 'solved' for convenience.
