#Hex fill no top/bottom walls print issue

I am trying to print the hex front monolithic body part and it's not coming out as expected.

Here is the part:
https://github.com/ArmoredTurtle/BoxTurtle-Enclosure/blob/main/STLs/Option_Parts/hex_front_monolithic_multibody.3mf

I have Body1 object is set with global settings of gyroid infill w/ top/bottom shells.

The rest of the objects are set with honeycomb infill at 40% with 0 top/bottom shells.

My issue is the print appears to be gyroid all over, including the hex objects.

The preview looks correct, the print does not.

What am I doing wrong?

Also there are large gaps between the hex objects and main body.

While I do not think I'm an idiot and sent the wrong file...

#

I was going for this look

i don’t know. sounds like a slicer issue.

does it still show in preview if you load the gcode back into the slicer?

Dropping the gcode on the slicer shows

#

Is 40% too much?

lyric star
#

yes

#

15-20% is the look you're going for

fallen egret
#

What about these gaps?

#

I have to rotate this 45 to fit on a 350 plate and it seems to not rotate it all correctly

#

I'm just loading up the 3mf, select all, rotate 45, move down 1cm

ashen oar
#

You could try the non multibody part

fallen egret
#

rotating it causes the hex objects to not be correct, it gets worse the further from the pivot point

#

Slicing it without rotation looks fine

cloud loom
#

when you loaded it did you do it as a single
object with multiple parts, when prompted?

fallen egret
#

I'm opening the 3mf directly

cloud loom
#

maybe robert did it wrong 🙂

fallen egret
#

It loads as individual objects on the plate

cloud loom
#

try loading the multi body stl

#

you can also select all and “assemble” them

#

before rotation.

fallen egret
#

I have some of these results in the west3d general channel, I'm talking with Matt there about this and he is trying to assist over there.

#

assemble before rotate causes other artifacts

cloud loom
#

i can maybe fix this later, but not at a computer so …

fallen egret
#

In this video, Matt rotated it on a generic voron trident preset and then sent it to me, I loaded it and if I slice it works fine, when I change the printer to my 2.4 and slice immediately after it has issues again. Wait till the end

fallen egret
#

Doesn't look like the printer preset, I recreated a new printer and it worked until I picked the filament then it broke. Generic ASA works, my preset does not.

cloud loom
#

something with classic vs arachne, nozzle or line widths?

fallen egret
#

it's simply Shrinkage (XY) between 100 and 99.54 in the filament profile

#

Steps to recreate with generic printer profile and generic asa filament: Open 3mf, rotate all items 45, adjust Shrinkage (XY) to 99.54, slice

cloud loom
#

ah

fallen egret
#

I tried the Orca nightly build also, same thing

#

It does not look like you need to rotate it either to have issues

cloud loom
#

Doesn’t terribly surprise me

#

I can look at it when I get back home.

fallen egret
#

Ok Thank you, I will print all the accent stuff now. This was the last base color part.

cloud loom
#

tryt his

fallen egret
#

That looks much better. I’ll print it this afternoon.

cloud loom
#

hexes modeled in natively to the STL, so no slicer hacks required.

fallen egret
#

I was about to yolo this but had lane1 load issues

#

My enclosure is out for delivery tomorrow

fallen egret
#

Just sent it panic_turtle

fallen egret
#

This is the only issue with it

cloud loom
#

that's not a STL file problem

#

that's probably a bit of warp there causing issues

#

or curling

Did not turn out to be an issue, was hidden!!
