Garry's Mod server haulting and freezing process.

One of my friends has a gmod server running, and the server every so often seems to just.. hault. The whole process freezes, the server stops running and kicks everyone out, and the only way to stop the server is by killing the process. Stop command doesnt work, restart doesnt work, nothing. It just completely freezes. Help?
