#Enhancing Player Perception: Shifting Daily Rewards to Boss Room Mechanics

Suggestion: Repurpose the existing Boss Room Keys to replace daily Gem handouts, reducing the "P2W" feel and increasing active engagement.

The Problem: Handing out daily Gems constantly reminds players of the cash shop, which makes the game feel heavily P2W to new players, even though the community knows it is actually very F2P friendly.

The Solution: > 1. Stop giving raw Gems as the daily login reward. Instead, give out the existing Purple Boss Keys.
2. Have the bosses in these rooms drop a new currency instead of gems—something thematic like Ember Cores or Soul Sparks.
3. Rename the "Shop" to something that fits the game world, like The Crucible or The Ember Kiln, where players spend these Cores for the exact same premium upgrades.

Why it helps the game: The systems are already in place! By shifting the reward from a UI button to an actual boss drop, it masks the premium currency behind gameplay. It shifts the mindset from "cash shop currency" to "boss loot," making players feel like they are earning their progression organically.

So just more steps to get to the gems?

Not quite. It’s about getting rid of 'Gems' entirely. Right now, Gems feel like a cheap mobile game currency that you buy with a credit card. If we replace them with something like 'Ember Cores' that drop from Bosses, it completely removes that P2W cash-shop vibe. It changes it from a microtransaction into actual game progression.

Think about Path of Exile they don't use generic gold or premium gems, all their currency is tied to the world and crafting. I know some people don't mind the mobile feel, but pushing away from that generic cash shop vibe is exactly what will make this game stand out from all the other idle games on Steam

Issue is if you move away from the cash shop how are the devs supposed to make money as they don't have a community the size of games like poe

That’s a totally fair point. But I'm definitely not suggesting they stop making money. They would still sell the currency for real cash, it just wouldn't be called 'Gems' or sold in a generic mobile style UI. They could sell 'Ember Cores' directly, or even sell the Boss Keys in the shop. The goal is just to re -skin the monetization so it fits the fantasy theme. If the game feels less like a mobile port, more PC players will actually stick around and spend money, which helps the devs grow the community and make more revenue in the long run.
