Upgrade could be to 5 levels.
Each level provide flat 1% permanent discount to prices.
To get 1/5 you have to get for example 10 of each resource, 2/5, 100 each of them etc.
We should check how it would apply with discount bought for gems to apply some balance.

Instead of carrying 100 different resources we could do item that craftsman could forge all of them into one (to save space)
10 x items - 1 Fruit Shard
10 y items - 1 Earth Shard
All shards - Crystal of Management (of price ahah)
1 Crystal - First upgrade, 10 Crystals - Second upgrade
|| All names above are just example, don't look at them for real ||

Mostly aimed towards late game
Small addition for early/mid game

So you would need to make an upgrade shard for each book in the library, and you would need 1 shard for upgrade 1/5, 10 shards for 2/5, and finally 10 000 shards for 5/5, meaning we would need 111 110 total items for a permanent 5% reducation, per book?

Number of items is just example, it could be
5/20/100/400/1000 mob drops (which change to crystals later on)
mob drops can be changed into shards
5 x mob drop - 1 shard x
5 y mob drop - 1 shard y
Each shard(x,y, etc.) = library book upgrade(or crystal which will be resource to upgrade)

Next one will be
20 x mob drop - 4 shards (for example this is amount needed for next upgrade)
20 y mob drop - 4 shards
Each shard 4 times - 4 crystals (or 2nd book/5)
And so on

That might go pretty well with the whole evolution thing you're working on Ailurithunk2
