#change tempo through midi

hello , i would like to change in real time the tempo (by x%) of a clip by pushing a midi switch button (fcb1010). I know how to do this by the automation tool. The problem is that when i trigger a new clip it will come back automatically to the main tempo, not taking into account the current tempo of the previous clip (itself affected by the modulation applied through automation). So is there another way than automation or did i miss something in the way automation works? Thanks in advance for any advice and comments.

May be my question is unusual and i can specify my need. I found it not very convenient to control de tempo through a midi pedal while i'm playing a real instrument: ideally i would like a regular acceleration of the tempo that i could switch by simply pushing a midi switch rather than with the midi pedal.

What about using sample and hold modulator with the smooth parameter enabled? If you modulate the tempo with it, then automate the input differently in different clips it'll ramp in and ramp out when changing clips

i discoverthis, will try. thank you

I was playing around with this and it works pretty well if you put the sample and hold into gate mode and put a note at the start of each of the clips on master. Then with smooth on 100% and the length set to bars it's easy to tweak the number of bars to affect how fast it glides into the new tempo

It's a little bit finicky to get spot on though with the sample and hold, makes me wonder why a simple lag modulator doesn't exist

But my problem is not that i want to smooth a change of tempo. My problem is that i want the new triggered clip to take into account the modulation that was applied in the previous clip, to start at the same tempo!

If in a clip we could really modify the tempo value indicated at the top of the window (as if we were driving it with a midi pedal) rather than modulate it there would be no problem...because a newly triggered clip would take into account the modification produced by the previous clip.

But i think i have another solution which is to program a ramp of CC values for the tempo in my behringer midi controller whenever i push a given swich

Perhaps you can draw tempo automation into a scene and then trigger the scene with midi? I dunno if that works but it's what I'd try first

yes this is what i did first
