Next update 1.7

This is kind of bigger update, so will be a while before its out.

Basically, I'm redoing the file, since i never really even planned on posting the file when i started it, and then not expecting how large the file ended up, i let it get kinda messy with unused data, duplicate textures, etc. So this should hopefully make it a little smaller. As well as renaming some things, since a lot of stuff is like "0x11ec8e2296a3d662" just to help

A lot of armors are retextures, so so something like a normal map is duplicate multiple times. Especially for capes

CYCELS UPDATE

I know how to get the shader to work with CYCELS, so I'm going to update every armor to make sure its compatible

New skeleton

I'm going to include the in game skeleton since DreamingOxxy let me know its useful when porting
(i also want to make a new rig but that wont be ready for this update)

A small update on progress, In a few days, I'm going to be extremely busy with a move, job hunting, and a few other obligations. so i probably wont be able to finish this update before then unfortunately. but what ever i do get finished will be launched as a Bata as a second file. i want to get all the armors in the beta, and maybe start on the weapons. but there's a chance i wont have time

After long time thinking 1.7 will be the last major update.

There will still be periodic updates to add in new warbonds and content, but those updates might be far and few in-between, unless enough people request an update. 1.7 will be uploaded when i believe its good enough to be the 'finalized' version of the helldiver armory.

Just as a reminder, this file is open source, and people are free to do anything other then sell these assets as they belong to Arrow head studio.

1.8 is indefinitely postponed until i can get my pc working again. My motherboard died out of nowhere

I cant afford to replace the motherboard atm, due to the move and honestly just being a poor college student.

If anywone wants to try and maintain the file while i cant update it. Dm me

Im going to be doing some testing when i get back, but there might be a new structure to the armory.

Rather then a single monolithic file, im going to break it down into many smaller lib files, that one master file will link all the assets from.

This will allow me to push out updates without the need of re-downloading the 15+gbs worth of data each time. You simply need to download the patch files, which is much smaller.

It will also just improve my ability to make edits and add new warbonds.

Major Update 1.8, live

Optimization

The file works better now, at least on my end, it will still be hard for many to run, but i expect many more people could run it if they wanted too.

Texture fixes

Nearly every texture issue is now fixed, and every armor should be in game accurate now.

Cycles UPDATE

Everything should now work in cycles

Torn Capes

In every cape shader, In the shader tab, there is now a Value you can change from 0 to .9 that will damage the cape, .1 being a little damaged, and .9 being very damaged

Attachments Update

All the attachments from my knowledge is now in the file
Due to the amount of work it would take to give each weapon its attachments, i decided to just include the attachments in the file, Users can manually doing "child of" constraints when needed

Despite this update not even being finished uploading, I already have plans for the future of The Helldiver Armory.

This file will eventually become the legacy version. Updates won’t stop anytime soon—if ever—but they’ll mainly just add new warbond content. The real shift I want to make requires a different workflow and a better structure, which means starting fresh with a whole new project. I’m still deciding if that new version will use baked textures and a UI setup similar to https://discord.com/channels/1210541115829260328/1350621902455963668.

Depending on how the second file turns out, the legacy Armory may continue to get new gear updates indefinitely.

Project Armory: Helldivers II.

This version will focus on building armors, capes, weapons, and more in a way that’s animator-ready. Big changes will include baked textures, optimized meshes, a custom shader, and a reworked rig. On top of that, I want to add overlays for blood and mud effects, Helldiver heads, control rigs for weapons, and for armor parts.
The main separation is not trying to stay "In game accurate", but rather "quality" above all else.

What im looking for, ill be looking for renders that show off HDA, with helldivers, weapons, capes etc. And will be judged by 3 people, myself and 2 freinds.

Timeline, idk, a month, maybe longer, until i get HDA2 at a state id want to post it.

Theres a BUG with the new update and theres issues with how i attached the rig to the meshes. In pose mode it seems to work, but outside it breaks, and there just seems to be issues.
I took a shortcut, so that's my bad.

Patch 1.8.1 should be out today or tomorrow.

I'm going to be starting production on a Helldivers Comic
The comic is called

Helldivers: Fronts of Liberty

This is a Fan Universe anthology comic series set in the Helldivers universe. Helldivers: Fronts of Liberty is the umbrella title for the series of comics, each volume will have its own title, and be a self-contained story. (EX. Helldivers: Fronts of Liberty - Flames of Freedom Vol..1)
Its going to be an anthology series, which means their will be no center cast of characters, there may be an over arching narrative and events shared with multiple comics, but the stories will not span multiple volumes, possibly releasing in chapters as they get made. Most will be stories that actually happened, but i do want to do a few "In universe" propaganda comics.

The main idea of this comic is to fill in the gaps of the Official helldiver universe with what we know, and just tell cool story's. One of the bigger focuses will be on warbonds, and Armor/Weapon descriptions.
I’ll do my best to stay authentic to Helldivers lore, but there will be mistakes, personal interpretations, and creative Liberty's i will take along the way. Some stories may differ greatly from what you expect from Helldivers, and that's partly by design. To be clear, this is my take on the Helldivers universe, not an official extension of the canon.

THE HELLDIVER 2.0 UPDATE IS COMING AND WHERE IVE BEEN

This is going to be more of a casual post, But i want to go over 2.0.

2.0 Is going to launch incomplete, it will come out as i do work on it, and certain armors/weapons/capes will be prioritized (you can request stuff for 2,0 here if you want)

Where I've been

between my job, taking a break, and working on the FOR LIBERTY! a Helldivers Film (comes out Nov 28th btw) Ive just been busy, But with the new war bond coming up soon, and my work on the film being done. Ill have more free time

I want to add a bunch of drivers and better controllers for the rig. all the values i change in the video i want a Control for the rig you can edit in Pose mode. and a few utility things when it comes to making things better for optimization, and updating stuff.

Proxy / Low quality and High definition versions

One thing ill be adding is a low poly version or proxy as a way to help performance when working with the rig, or for divers in the background that don't need full quality. The HD B-01 Tactical has about 97000 Tris, Where as the LQ B-01 has about 12000. And when animating or posing it becomes apparent how much more optimized the LQ feels. Ofc its at the cost of shading issues, and quality drop. If baking the textures didn't take so much time i would also do that for every armor in a LQ and a HD version, but as of now its not worth the time investment.
and for those who don't have a beefy PC or running on laptops, it will make it a lot more likely they'll be able to use the LQ assets.

Weapon overhaul

weapons will get new rigs, and customization though that will have a much slower progress then the armors. But i want to get skins and attachments from the game working intuitively with blender. and possibly just extra options just cause. not sure yet

When is it coming out?

No idea, i want to work on a better rig and figure out the file structure and generally I'm not 100% focused on it due to just other priorities.

The Helldiver II Armory 1.8 VS The Helldiver II Armory 2.0

This current file will be marked legacy once i get to a decent point for 2.0, but it will still receive updates when a new war bond or content comes out.

Sneak peak at the new rig for 2.0, big thanks to @clever jolt for letting me use his ARP rig as a base.

A few features is just better readability, and it wont have any more need for scripts or pugins, the gear at the top will control all the driver options.

How the files are going to work:
Theres going to be source files, that will have the armors, weapons, etc. In a individual blend files. There will be a appending file that has all the assets linked from the src files.

This helps, as lets say for example, theres currently a texture issue with a few of the b-01 Tactical lean variants. They dont have yellow on them. If i where to push an update for it on 1.8 everyone would need to download the 17 gbs patch. So im waiting till 1.8.1 when the new warbond comes out to push a fix.

Where as in the 2.0 structure, to push that texture fix, i can just push out a 1 ~ 80 mb src file, and itll just replace the old file.

As well as this has some easier "modding" support. Its a system people can tap into to add custom weapons and armors into, and make a patchs for. And post it if they want. Which means if i ever stop supporting this, itll still open source, and easy to maintain. kat

Regarding the Armory
HDA 2.0.1 will be released soon. However, it will initially be lacking a lot of content, so HDA 1.8.X [Legacy] will actually remain more up-to-date until we reach the 2.1.0 release.
The new 2.0.X branch will still bring some major improvements, including:

A new Helldiver rig
Proxys
a lot More features
A physics-based cape option
A fixed cape mesh
A new file structure
A few planned surprises down the line

One of the biggest focuses will be weapon rigs. I plan on slowly making new rigs for weapons over time. Until I get to them, many will still be using the legacy rigs.

Its going to be really bare bones at first, But will receive regular updates. But it will have the New rig, proxys, and more features added as 2.0 gets updated.
I'm really excited to see what you guys make with this.

Ill be launching a test of version of 2.0 in my server later today, it may not be stable so its for testing, It will only be for a day or 2 before its here in this server. I want to redo how i do attachments so i left the Liberator unfinished as it will eventually get a rework anyway.
