DBH build Number:25587174
direct x11 or x12
Os version 26200.8037
CPU: 12th gen intel core i5-12400f
Ram 32 gb
In game graphics set on low
What is your GPU?
3050
Not sure what caused it was playing normal in muli then ut glitched restarted and as it loads it very laggy once it does it stays at 1 to 2 pfs the whole time no matter what graphics settings, even if I change to a new load or new save completely still doesn't work nor uninstill and reinstall i really enjoy the game but it's not playable at all
Is it only for that 1 save?
What can you remember what vehicle and what parts did you have installed that weren't Original ones? Or do you have a screenshot of the car by chance?
Let me boot up my pc
Give me a sec
I dont have pics I had 3 cars out the tricolops the mustang, and gtr, the mustang and tricolops was okay missing parts but no random parts on it, the gtr did have a few random parts on it, at point when placing the chair in the car it disappeared it was still placed in the car but it wasn't completely visible, I respawn the car it showed the chair etc .
Could you screenshot with full screen, everything included, like with the build number and your health status, and money amount, it's all usable information for troubleshooting.
Could you please enable the full steam overlay, I think i need additional details to make sure your PC is actually using the GPU.
Press Shift+Tab to being up the steam overlay
It's interesting how the game is Utilizing only 3% of the GPU in your screenshot.
Is it only doing this on this Save File? Or does it do it in other ones, and even if you make a new save?
Either or
Depending on what happens on New and Different saves (if it's still low FPS), will have different things that will need to be done or checked.
If it's only this 1 save, then it's something different from former.
Well what's happening with new and different saves for you?
the same thing
Oh, ok I missed that, there is a solution.
Delete these files please:
Issue: Audio, video, key bind settings are not working/saving.
Solution: Disable Steam Cloud saves & delete 2 local config files.
- In your Steam games list, right click DBH then click Properties.
- Toggle off "Keep Game Saves in the Steam Cloud for DBH."
- Press Windows Key + E to open File Explorer.
- Paste the path below to the address bar.
%LOCALAPPDATA%\DriveBeyondHorizons\Saved\Config\Windows - Delete GameUserSettings.ini
- Paste the path below to the address bar.
%LOCALAPPDATA%\DriveBeyondHorizons\Saved\SaveGames - Delete UserSettings.sav
- Load the game!
- If you want to re-enable Steam Cloud saves, do it after playing and exiting the game.
Also under %LOCALAPPDATA%\DriveBeyondHorizons\Saved\Config\Windows delete the Engine.ini file, and let me know if that fixes the issues.
it like struggle and laggs to load and take longer then usual, and no it didnt fix it
Very strange. Your system resources aren't even fully being utilized at all.
Do you have the game installed on a secondary drive, like an HDD?
Or did you by chance have a Windows Update or Nvidia Drivers update recently before this tarted happening?
it is on my second nvme i had no issues with and nope no update literally just closed the app from glitching and opened up to this
Ok, seems like you might have installed the March update KB5079473, that has been known for GPU performance issues:
Graphics freezes, black screens and DXGI/D3D regressions
Numerous community posts describe GPU‑related behavior emerging after KB5079473: full desktop blackouts (sometimes with audible system activity still present), intermittent freezes in games, and the inability to run GPU‑accelerated applications. Notably, at least one detailed community thread reports a regression that disabled GPU‑accelerated rendering on a Dell Precision 5520 with dual GPUs (Intel + NVIDIA Quadro) when Optimus was disabled — a configuration that exercises DXGI/D3D pathways differently than standard single‑GPU laptops. Some users also reported that KB5079473 updated Intel integrated GPU drivers via Windows Update even when policies to exclude driver updates were in place.

Since all your saves are affected, that is my most likely pointer to the issues. Windows 11 updates have been extremely bad since the beginning of this year, to where they even are pulling the updates after releasing them.
So what would I do even if I create a new save it still doesn't work...
Im using a pc vs laptop that still matters?
Unfortunately if you followed these steps #1491297031774277713 message to delete the files in question that would affect the game performance didn't fix the issue, that's all we can do regarding the game troubleshooting.
For anything related to your PC, like a bad Windows updates (witch it seems like this is the case), you'd have to either scan your windows System File Checker tool to repair missing or corrupt system files (https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/topic/use-the-system-file-checker-tool-to-repair-missing-or-corrupted-system-files-79aa86cb-ca52-166a-92a3-966e85d4094e) or uninstall certain updates that affect game performances (this the reason I personally no longer use windows).

I'd understands performance drops on a laptop, but not on a PC like yours. The issue is that your system hardware isn't being fully utilized, so the game FPS will not increase because there's something blocking or affecting it.
But what i dont understand on how that can be the issue if there was no update it was a simply app restart
Windows runs a lot of things in the background, so when you restarted the game, windows might have done some changes to your PC. 🤷♂️
The main indicator that it wasn't the game but your PC was this part in your screenshot, only using 3% of your GPU at that time:
If it was affecting only 1 save file, then it could be identified that it was relating to something that happened in that save only, but from what you said it's affecting all of your save files (each save files has no connection to each other). Even after removing the files that affect the game settings that could affect the performance, it still didn't change anything.
Thus indicating that it is your OS or Hardware causing the problems.
so i either switch from windows 11, or somehow see whats causing it or just never play this game again cause its just your game not anything else i would have no reason to switch or go so far for one game to be playable
Well, there's other options you could try if you already used the System File Checker tool i linked above to scan and fix your windows installation (#1491297031774277713 message)>
You could move the game to your C drive in case your secondary drive is being affected.
What updates do you have installed then?
the update has been from a while ago i was able to play with that update and hasnt been updated while play i restart the app no update and it doesnt work it cant be my hardware
You have several updates that affect GPU performance, one of them made me install Linux for my own PC because it was so bad.
KB5074109 https://overclock3d.net/news/software/new-windows-update-ruins-nvidia-geforce-gpu-performance-reports-claim/
I dunno your exact issue, but windows been doing some reaaaaly bad updates this year.
yeah no i get that i have heard but never ever had an issue and i dont update my pc when they are release i take weeks before i do, i havent update the recent one that were release and i was able to run the game fine with no trouble i still dont update and just restart the app and im not able to play that cant point to my hardware if nothing has changed
i can run any other game mw beamng and it runs perfectly fine and those are more demanding
That's the thing, you reported that your game glitched, then you restarted the save and now you have barely any FPS. The game didn't change since then, your 1 save doesn't affect your other saves, that's indicating that something happened on system level for the issue.
Trust me, DBH runs in Unreal Engine compared to other games, and is way way more demanding.
BeamNG has been developed since like 2011, on a completely different game engine.
i mean i appreciate the help but i literally cant play the game no more til i switch, i cant uninstall the update that your saying, nor have i updated anything, so the game is useless to me now and i have no point on switching everything over just to play one game it just doesn't make sense to, and i understand it has been and it does run with a different engine but as you play on mod add mods etc it becomes more demanding and im able to run it without problem but i try to just load into the save im stuttering and laggy and it shouldn't be like that.
@quick halo could I ask for a second set of eyes or opinion please?
yes please cause i would like to play your game it has the new update and its just a refreshing game to come back to with that
Now I do have a question, did you go through all the steps 1 by 1 to delete the files correctly?
And did you move the game to your C drive?
And did you do the windows System File Checker tool scan?
yes i did, i uninstalled and installed on c drive, and no i dont know how to use windows file checker
And you said it was doing the same on DirectX11 and DirectX12?
To use it, all the instructions are on the microsoft website.
https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/topic/use-the-system-file-checker-tool-to-repair-missing-or-corrupted-system-files-79aa86cb-ca52-166a-92a3-966e85d4094e
It's important to do because if you do have some windows system files corrupted, it would affect how your PC works.

I literally had a friend do it last night for similar issues with GPU performance.
👍
Just let me know how many errors does it show if any.
any idea how long it stays at like that
No idea, could be 5 min, could be 30 min. Depending on how many files it finds.
did you run the sfc /scannow command?
yes scaning
im assuming it was the issue like your friend
i dont understand any of this
OK, now you'll want to restart your PC.
Then uininstall your GPU drivers, and INstall them from scratch.
You can go through the NVIDIA GeForce Now App to uninstall
okay im on it
yeah, you can click Renistall, and it shoul dgive you option to do a full reinstall everything
Yes, sry, see if that fixed the game performance issues.
no it didnt it took even longer to load and was still the same
Only thing that hasn't been checked.
Resetting the entire game.
Deleting all saves, garage, ctrl+s.
Bring the game back to a fresh install that believes it's never been used iygwim
Thanks Roxxo!
OK, that would involve:
- Disabling Steam Cloud Backups through steam game settings.
- Uninstalling the game.
- Press Windows Key + E to open File Explorer.
- Paste the path below to the address bar.
%LOCALAPPDATA%\DriveBeyondHorizons\ - Deleting all the
Savedfolder and it's containing files.
sorry i was away
fucken legend it worked
@cosmic finch thank you both of you i gotta restart but i can at least play thank you very much for your time
Ok cool, glad it worked after so many different attempts. Well looks like I got to write this down as a case study, and keep an eye out for this.
Appreciate all the patience you had to endure.
<@&1252292809197617306> please keep an eye out for cases like this. Would be the very extreme having to delete the entire game and all save progress, so be sure to go through a lot of checking before coming to a conclusion and recommending a full wipe.
yeah at least we figured it out no worries as long as i get to play we good
