The Honda Civic Type R (EK9) is the first model in history to carry the iconic "Type R" badge in the Civic range. Launched exclusively for the Japanese market (JDM) between 1997 and 2000, this three-door hot hatch became a legend for its mechanical purity and its high-performance naturally aspirated engine.

Key Technical Specifications
At the heart of the EK9 is the B16B engine, a masterpiece of Honda engineering that boasts one of the highest power per liter for a naturally aspirated engine of its time.
Engine: 1.6-liter DOHC VTEC 4-cylinder in-line.
Power: 185 hp at 8,200 rpm.
Transmission: 5-speed manual with close ratios.
Weight: Approximately 1,050 kg.
Acceleration (0-100 km/h): 6.6 seconds.
Top speed: 225 km/h.

Distinguishing Features
Chassis and Handling: It has a reinforced monocoque chassis for greater rigidity and a helical limited slip differential (LSD) as standard to improve traction in corners.
Racing Interior: Its cabin is famous for its red Recaro seats, three-spoke Momo steering wheel and titanium gear lever knob.
Exterior Aesthetics: It is recognized by its exclusive Championship White color (although it was also manufactured in black, silver and yellow), 15-inch white wheels and the Honda logo with a red background.
