That’s not a bug. Wave 57 is the max wave to get gems. Maximum amount of gems you can get per infinite is 800. It even tells you that when you select an infinite.

Might you have considered that one of the waves gives additional gems? And the first 3 waves doesn’t grant you gems and I think that’s to prevent people just joining and leaving right after
