it should be under power settings.
you can usually even select a time before it dims (or disable dimming)

were you able to find them?
i don't use gnome myself (havn't for a while) so can't give the exact steps - but the settings will be there

it says it will always happen when using power saver mode.

if you use the balanced profile and turn it off under power panel options it wont.

you should be able to run balanced and customize the settings of it to suit your needs without having to select the power save profile which is always a strict one.

modern cpu's and their governors are actually really efficient, but can also be adjusted safely as well.

check out cpupower help in a terminal
(you'll have to use run0 to set any variables though =)

I don't think it's the best solution, but it is easy; I install the caffeine GNOME extension and call it a day. It's found in Fedora's repos. So you can just layer it. You don't have to weaken the security of your system; that's only required if it's not found in Fedora's repos.

how is changing a preinstalled set of power profiles, weakening security ?

#

eg, selecting a different one

Sorry for causing any confusion. My comment was referring to the action of installing a GNOME extension that's not found in Fedora's repos. See this entry in secureblue's FAQ.

It depends. If you already use so-called user extensions, then I suppose it's just one more to the stack. Not great, but yeah...

EDIT: To reiterate: GNOME user extensions are disabled by default for a reason.

FWIW, Fedora's repos also contain (s) (one of) the extensions for system tray*.

EDIT: I misread. I don't know what app indicator stuff does*
