In a fission bomb, a conventional explosive is arranged around a sub-critical mass of uranium-235. When detonated, this explosive creates a uniform inward pressure, compressing the uranium-235 into a much smaller volume. Thus the upgrade of a fission bomb. Fusion Bombs: Also known as hydrogen bombs or thermonuclear bombs, these use nuclear fusion. Fusion occurs when light atomic nuclei (like isotopes of hydrogen) combine to form heavier nuclei, releasing energy. Fusion bombs use a fission bomb as a trigger to create the extreme temperatures and pressures necessary for fusion to occur. Therefore when an explosive pillow bomb explodes a radiation bomb it should go super-critical and big boom should occur.
