(disclaimer: kind of a re-post of a youtube short comment)
right now as far as i can tell the skill points cant be used past level 5
and it might be difficult to use the current system with more skills
however, if there was a skill tree this could be easily avoided.
you would, of course, start at the centre of a 'tree' branching out in all directions.
the first choice you would make would determine what main skills you would have going forward.
there might be a cap to how many main skills you could have
this could allow for a different type of god in each playthrough
for example, you could be a god with healing powers and complete control over the weather, or a god that can pick anything up and move it about at will and grow crops at the press of a button
after you unlock 2-3 skills, the other paths would lock and you would have to continue the branches that you chose.
some buffs you might get after the main skills might be:
- cooldown buffs
- range buffs (for lightning, grow, heal, and maybe even revive)
- maybe they dont do quite as much as soon as you get them, that way you allow for buffs like lighting doing more damage or heal giving more health
(the comment that the skill tree idea was from suggests changing the altar sprites for whatever type of god you are)
