Its main use is to prevent people from camping the bus and turning into paper
But its dogwater compared to the other secondaries in terms of killing
Also you can headshot with it for some ungodly reason

the emberspit dps is average, not great compared to the others, but you gotta consider how easy it is to hit shots compared to other guns, especially how easy it is to hit stringified targets compared to other guns
it's an unfair weapon, not fun to fight against, and is flawed at its core for a game like this

That's what makes it such a big deal
You can't stringify to try and dodge it or even to leave? Like, the entire point of the game? It's already stupid that it can hit stringified targets just as it can unstringified, but on top of that it's so easy to hit people with that it's pretty much its own aim assist, like, in a competitive shooter game (especially when the whole premise of the game is to be able to manipulate your hitbox). It's the same issue with Mara except it's available on every single character so it's arguably worse. The only real counterplay is to get close enough that they can't hit you because it expands or far enough that you're out of the range but opportunities that you can do either of these almost never come up. It's just purely not fun to fight against, makes a ton of encounters way less interesting, and on top of that it encourages (mostly new) players to not practice their aim, which is not what you want your players to do in a pvp shooter game
There's a reason that the Pyro from Team Fortress 2 is so widely hated among the community (aside from his ability to reflect projectiles (which I didn't really mind)). Flamethrowers in pvp shooter games just don't work to be fun to fight against as a concept or in execution (and funnily enough, likely in real life too xd), at least not in ones like these where you normally have to put in effort to aim to hit your shots
Also fyi, at least in a lot of NA servers, no one uses it as a finisher, they just use it right after they fail to hit a lot of their shots. It's not a weapon that needs actual skill.

Because usually you can just stringify away and live, and it also has the defect of being a melee weapon, although a lot of it is probably just because not nearly as many people use it as the emberspit

it's a difference of 15 light attack and 31 heavy attack damage

I got it from being able to get away from the sword but always getting fucked over by the emberspit because it's way too easy to hit shots especially upwards (in comparison to the ninjato)

Well that is very cool
You do have to understand though that a ton of people use the emberspit (I once had 3 other people in just my team using it even), and most of them just bring it out if they even miss a few of their shots, and most of them get kills that they really shouldn't have (for instance, initiating a 1v2, aiming in the general direction of a stringified person, etc)
It is as I said a genuine issue with the game and it should absolutely be removed if they want to keep the part of the playerbase that realizes this weapon is way too easy to hit things and get kills with (as a genuine crutch weapon)
