Hello! Trying to build a room a temple without windows and it is way too dark even during days. Adding lamps doesn't seem to help. Am I missing something?

I don't think any build lights in game actually emit light, they only glow. Not sure why the game does this and not sure if it'll ever change 
If you're building in solo mode (this doesn't work at guild base) you could set a custom visual style and lock the weather to a time of day that might help, and remove a wall just while finishing the interior.
This would be in settings > display > custom visual style, and edit the time or even weather from there. Hope that might help!

Correct, lamps don't light its surroundings in this game, they only turn yellow at night. There's no global illumination from it
