How do I access the variant furniture?

I can't send photos yet but I'm trying to build our base and I want to use some of the variant furniture but I keep tapping on it and it doesnmt really change? Would appreciate it if anyone could help me with this. Thanks!

One of my favorite things to do when I am planning out a particular area of building is to just place all of the objects that I might be interested in using, as well as others like an IKEA showroom. That way I can just copy the item I need at any point instead of having to jump into the menus over and over.

Yes, I do this too, it's like painting with all the paints available on the palette. It makes building much faster, especially if I accidentally deleted something
