#No lighting?
1 messages · Page 1 of 1 (latest)
Unfortunately light doesn't light up surroundings. Its a bit sad but nothing much can do
I'm so excited to build on my guild base, but unfortunately, we can't see at the dark 😂
Yeah I tried to lock night cycle and whatever but sometimes when night comes it gives me some ideas too haha so whatever
Much more annoying is the component limit.
true, only 5k? our guild base has so much space
look the fish lamp has lighting, event though small amount, but still has lighting
Does it actually illuminate surfaces?
I don't think so
Haha yah
Yeah not the first thread about lamps. The way I see it is: lamps are not actually light sources but rather have bright textures with bloom values, but no lightmap with them. Might have something to do with lightmaps being functions of location within the world space and prevaked into how light works at coordinates in the world space.
Which leads to situations such as these, where you have a static world space light source and for reference player-placed lamps
Also at best ray tracing could be able to account for the light of a bright texture that is currently rendered but the surface illumination would vanish the moment the light source isn't visible.
Incidentally something you can see with some remasters or graphic improvement mods for older games
Read somewhere that the Devs are maybe trying to set-up a net lightmap (sort of superposition) of light sources that would include player placed lamps. But it sounded more like a chunk (or something like that) based approach of handling light sources.
Also I am pretty sure that this is something that is pretty low level and can't just easily be patched by changing the lamp objects alone
My recommendation is building in areas with good nighttime visibility and even better preexisting light sources to build around
nice looking house. need to learn to build roofs and beams like that
Another issue is the handling of weather and definition of indoor areas.
same, I'm suck at building house lol
The tower's gonna be my demise I feel though.
yes when it rains my interior is soaked too for whatever reason
I can't delete all i've built on guild base lol I will wait an update till an important light source appears
Even if it properly flags it as an interior and hence you don't see rainfall, the floor still is soaked.
Now granted the whole idea of overhanging roofs was that for wood and earth buildings (i.e. most ancient Chinese buildings, at least early on and certainly in late prehistoric times) you wanted to keep rain away from the wall. And of course rain 'bends' around the roof and you get a certain amount of wet floor. But having an interior floor drenched by rain with a roof in between is a stretch and annoying
More of a thing for solo builds as you get more variety of locations
sometimes I wish I can get a ELI5 version of song housing architecture so i can understand which beam goes where. but without having to worry about actual physics
Can I interest you in a thread (lifts part of his trenchcoat to reveal a link):
https://discord.com/channels/1180042348755963924/1461009824086229052
Not maintained well right now but there should be some info to get ppl going on immersive building concepts
oo interesting. i will read through it for sure
Aehm does a lecture count as ELI5?
Although you should be fine it's not tough to understand safe for tech issues sometimes. More of an expansion span issue
Don't have to watch all of it
i think if i start by copying i'll eventually get a bit of the hang of it
Gonna post a list there for mist see lectures
can you pick one that's the most relevant you think? I'll watch it while I eat
Sent you a ping on the other thread. Link is in the post the selection is the answer to. Thank God for what COVID did to the digitalisation of academia. Otherwise we wouldn't have half the lectures we have on YT today
See it!
just finished breaking army what did I miss?
I hope they increase the size of build limit, plus lighting components
Just a bit on where to find an ELI5 for architecture and construction.
Whats location? Nice building
location should be roughly the same as the name of its thread. Generally it's Pipa chasm
Fantastic place to build in as long as you can deal with properly distributing buildings with both horizontal and vertical axes in mind.
Thank you very much, I don't speak English and I'm trying to manage with a translator.
No problem if you like you can ask questions regarding the build in its thread
wonder how is the building system on CN version I've seen some really nice buildings even a Hogwarts replica
Guys
Is there a gallery of guilds bases or solo world bases in the chinese version of the game.
I want to check for potentially new future features like lighting or new components.
Okay, I find the CN builds and the builds all rely on natural lightings.
Look like lighting won't be fix any time soon.
Construction is still kind of crude compared to CN. The same stone lamps that you can sit on or the constant lack of light. I also saw that there are a lot more round elements on CN servers.
Can u tell if CN is not limited by caps? lol
Oh btw I think I noticed something in a build showcase for CN estates. It seems like lamps do have actual light emissions in the estate region. Not sure though maybe someone could check on CN whether that is true.
btw it gets really dark when it rains, but I figured out you can forcibly change the weather using the photomode, (you just need to set the time to 24:00 then switch it afternoon, then leave the photomode)
if it doesn't work or it keeps triggering the foggy weather instead, try to leave the photomode and do it again
I've tried this and it works
Ty so much for the tips
Guys is the CN server have more than 5k build limit?
I heard we will get prop limit increase once we will be able to achieve higher guild levels? Having more props per each guild would cause load for servers, so it will take some time?
wait for ray tracing next year
I hope this is true
oo
nice, it works! thank you!
