#Been wondering, does anyone know how to use corner brackets?

nope those in the wall section
found out how to make them work
as it is now it's highly situational and regardless probably extremely finicky for the time being. It relies on having enough assets providing hooks to snap to. The lower bracket snaps to the horizontal darkwood beam and the corner bracket snaps to the column
Think I got the hang of it now.
you can also use the smaller ones above a pillar or below any overhang roof it looks nice and neet
use it like this
What an idea to hang the lanterns directly beneath the brackets. You wouldn't mind me copying that would you?
@fickle temple do you mean the ones I used in this picture? Those big brackets (those above the columns on the wall in the foreground of the second picture) consist of around 4 small bracket objects each
pretty much, you can play around with it theres also diff sizes so you have options
@fickle temple like the one on the right in the background of this picture?
yea
no its not mine
Examples of Using Brackets
Using brackets without the option to use the move tool is somewhat tricky and mostly finicky and cumbersome. Having said that, below are examples of brackets placed without that tool.
Quick Disclaimer: Large brackets generally do not snap at all. For corner brackets, snapping results in misalignment of the Lu-dou (the lowest foundational block).
Generally, brackets work best together with square walls; as such, I recommend scaling or stacking brackets according to the height of the square wall you are using.
Placement Tips
- Load Bearing: I recommend using them on every column or pillar that would bear load in real life.
- Roof Structure: In cases of especially heavy(-looking) roof structures, using inter-columnar brackets might help with immersion.
- Tie-Beams: As seen especially in the figures showing the early stages of the dougong assembly, tie-beams tend to be located beneath the bracket.
general stuff:
to exemplify a situation where brackets should be used I set up a 1x2 bay corner with each bay (space between the columns) being 2 tiles wide (Don't mind the second level of columns they are just for snapping if needed). The other image shows the items used overall in the examples
small brackets
This is an example of using brackets for a small pavilion or house maybe 2x3 2-tile bays in size
Corner bracket composition
There are 2 sets of large brackets, the smaller of which can be combined to form bigger brackets as seen for a corner in this example
Large bracket composition
As with the corner brackets can also be combined for a column in a wall as seen below.
Large brackets
I got the general Idea, thanks for this wonderful explanation
Glad I could be of help
@hollow oracle regarding not having a move tool:
This was meant for Ash who mostly builds on mobile. So it doesn't at all rely on being able to adjust placed objects. Not sure though how well it adapts to PS5.
Ash build is close to perfection, I can imagine his hard work, must be hard on mobile. For me on Ps5 these missing tools more than make things harder is mostly the time consuming aspect. My Treehouse build took me way too much time to build that I would expected. Every day I learn a new trick so I'm getting there.
Btw Fei, I invite you to visit my treehouse, it's a small build so it won't take long, the feedback I'm receiving are very good
The hate and toxicity too lol, but I'm used to it 😉
I apologize for my very bad English, not my first language
Same here
Happy to have a look at it after Easter. Also Qingfeng would be the given name and Fei the surname. Chinese and Japanese have a surname first name order, not sure about Korean though.
On the one hand my pedantic brain sees quite a few issues with the build. On the other hand he is constantly struggling with the 5k limit. Also there are some great ideas like the upside down pavilion. Also the colour theme is great.
Tried to fix a few of them like better stairs more space + ceiling height etc
With some adjustments I was able to Fully furnish the upside down pav
But too late to fix other things and I would like to move on to do a better build instead of being stuck at one
That's great. Did you already upload pictures of that?
Yeah, true. What's the next build gonna be?
We are working on a walkthrough video
It's not fully decided yet doing some experiments on different ideas while recovering stamina
A good way maybe work on sort of an aesthetic intuition (at least for me) was to start from small 6x4 tile pavilions at locations that leave room for expanding them into a huge compound consisting of multiple pavilions connected by galleries and walkways.
Helps with maintaining stamina by having small breaks in between and also with experimenting as each pavilion can incorporate stuff you learned from the prior pavilion.
(Hence the huge difference in the build quality the further east something is located in my build^^) Each new building ought to be of higher quality or complexity than the prior one.
Yea I learnt to modularise the entire project and focus on one thing at a time to completion, then connect it with others.
The only problem I am kinda facing is with the calculation of cell sizes and improper snapping at times, leading me to backtracking a lot.
Thing is that if the individual elements are complete and small enough you should be able to easily adjust to the 5k cap. And that is without leaving unfinished areas.
