Need help

Someone tell me why the construction is so broken, I'm trying to build this big purple tree, a house, and I can't get it level with the ground, everything is in the air as if it was flying

heres what i did instead:

1. place purple tree (its floating now)
2. place a block on top of the tree
3. remove the tree
4. place 3 wall below the block
5. place the tree under that new lowest wall

I was asking because I plan to level the platform to the surface of a lake that isn't deep enought to have platform there. So I was wondering whether using that trick I could do that
