How to bind account

Specifically for Steam

1. You need to get past the first boss, and finish your character/name creation
2. You need to open the menu and click settings
3. From there click "Other" tab
4. That will open up a page that has an option to click called Bind Account
5. Inside Bind Account you will see a list of accounts you can link there, Including your Netease Account

Currently linking accounts on steam is bugged with the last update and the option to bind accounts was accidentally removed

For anyone who needs help with account binding/deletion because of accidental making two seperate characters, please make a ticket. We can't guarantee the workaround we found will work for everyone's problem, worse case you will still need to reach out to support.

How to Bind your account on official launcher/mobile
Login with the Netease account you want on the official launcher/mobile
Click the small arrow in the bottom left, and then click on the icon of a person
Select Link Account in the menu that pops up
Follow the instructions inside the menu that appears after selecting Link Account

When you have finished linking your accounts, you will be able to login on your desired platforms with the Netease account you used to link the other platforms

The summary of what follows is as follows: launch the game from the official launcher, run , and read the Steam post. When launching the game on Steam, you notice that no player appears. There is no option for unbinding which is why I sent email about it and this is what I got:

Binding account from Steam to PS5, the documentation provided is off, there is no user center menu in the steam version, nor do I see an option in the title screen on PS5 for user center to link before making a character.

Okay, this is likely a playstation problem, but we might be able to work around it. Are you able to download the version from Netease launcher and try to bind from the main menu?

Lemme try that, I initially did it via steam, I'll install via the launcher and see what happens.

For some reason the PS5 version is showing the starting character account on title screen now but its not the steam character just the generic name of the character for tutorial.

Just don't start the game, the account binding for the Netease launcher is on the main menu. If you do and haven't properly linked your netease account with steam/playstation you won't be able to bind

All we need to try this is on the main menu anyway so you don't need to enter

I downloaded and signed into the netease account, steam was linked, but the ps5 linking is saying this still: the game data has been linked to an account, and cannot be linked again. so its carrying from steam to the launcher account from what I see, after that it shows the character name, but no joy on the ps5

Yeah once I'm in on launcher in game too, it shows user center and bind as menu options, and both result in the same error for binding to PS5, I must of messed it up prior, I started on steam and not sure if I didn't bind the netease first, then PS5.

On the main menu I logged in before entering the game, and it was still giving me issues for PS5 but it showed steam was linked with the netease

It isn't possible to link two accounts that already have characters made at the moment. If you ended up creating two seperate characters. The one on steam/netease account and the other on ps5 account you'll need to reach out to Customer Support to have them remove the link:

Which account are you trying to save the ps5 one? You'll still need to reach out to support about the account you don't want so you can link it if you want cross platform progression

Okay, so keep the link between your netease account and steam. Than reach out to support and ask them to delete the ps5 character. You'll need to be patient though they are getting a lot of requests for help and can only work so fast.

Y'all should link the account first before starting on any platform. For example: if you start on steam, then you bind your account to Netease account and bind your PSN at the same time under the same window. Or vice versa. Start playing on PSN, bind your PSN and Steam account to Netease under the same window. The reason is you will not see the user menu setting in the login page. You only see user menu setting and the binding option when you're already in the game.

For anyone trying to unbind an account I think I figured it out. TLDR I created a Steam account and played for a few days. Wanted to play that character on PS5. As soon as the game launches for the first time on PS5 it instantly binds your PSN account to Where Winds Meets. This happens before you name your character. So at this point you cannot bind your Steam Character to Play Station.

So on PS5 I fully created a character and named him. Once in game go to setting, hold V for customer service. A pop up will appear and select Unbind account. You have to have two accounts to use the unbind so I created a second Netease acount. You have to bind your PSN account to the alternate Netease account. After that you can then Unbind your PSN account.

After I unbound the PSN account I turned off my PS5 and logged into the game on Steam. On the Steam version of the game I went I went to the bind section and was now able to successfully bind my Steam character and PSN character. Turned the game off on Steam. Turned back on my PS5 and after a minute of loading it allowed my to log in the correct character.

It was a bit of work and emailing customer service was no help like others have experienced. Hope this helps.

You have to be on PS5 to unbind the PS5. I had to create a character name and all to get to access the setting in game. After I was in game on PS5 and was able to control the character I went to settings and held V. You have to have an alt Netease account. (created a new email just for that). It make you bind it to the alt netease account before you can unbind the PS5.

So I started on Steam and would like to link the account to Epic and a newly created NetEase account. (I do not have consoles, so I will not be linking to the PS5 version of the game).

Am I right to say that I should not start the game on Epic and from the NetEase launcher - until i linked them up via my Steam character first?
(I think if I understand it correctly - if I were to launch the game on Epic or NetEase before linking my Steam account.. it will "create" a character data and I will not be able to link it to Steam... am I right?)

That's correct, do not click start on the epic or start the game on Netease launcher before properly linking your accounts.

I'm not as familiar with the Epic launcher, but on the Netease, as long as you don't click start you are fine to be on the main menu.

You can also bind your accounts from that main menu on the Netease launcher, if you are having trouble finding it on steam using the guide above. It will appear in the bottom right corner with an option to click to open up the rest of the options. One of those is bind account.

Just do not start the game on those other launcher. If you do you'll be prevented from linking them to your Steam character.

No, it's working as its currently setup. Re-link your netease account and it should be there again. Problem is you made a new character after unlinking so now you need to follow the guide in #game-support because only the game support team can help you delete the new character.

When its done, download the official launcher and make sure to link your accounts again. The official launcher has the option to link accounts on the main menu before launching the game

You will need to create a new (second) netease account and bind your current PS5 character data (let's call it character Y) to it first.

Then you unlink the PS5 from it and shut down the PS5. (So now character Y is only linked to the second netease account and not on any other platforms)

Log into your Steam account (which has your character, which we can call character X) and then link to PS5 from there

Then you can turn on your PS5 and it should have your Steam character (chatacter X) data there

The main thing is... as long as you started the game on a platform, it creates a data file (even when you haven't customized or "created" your character yet) - in your case, you started the game on PS5 so the game already created a file.

Which therefore prevents you from binding to your Steam as there are now "two" separate characters

It's very tedious and there's not really a roundabout way in doing it.. hopefully I've explained it (?)

I initially made an account on PS5, I bound it to my netease account. I then unbound my PS5 account from my netease account and it appeared on my PC Netease one. I only wanted to link my PS5 to my steam account. Support said i should unbind my account - so i did. HUGE Mistake. Now i am not able to play my account anymore cause there is not "Login" option in the titel screen. I have linked my steam account to neatease before, which will maybe help in the future. Support is basically useless sent the same "Bind" Template over and over again 🙁 All i want is my account back. The whole account binding thing is so ridiculous. Worst implementation ever - sorry. Tbh all of these cross progression/save tutorials stating to “bind an account before creating a character” should be rephrased to “bind the account before even starting the game”. I originally created my account on steam, tried to boot up on psn, there was no account bind option on the home screen like the tutorial stated but it said I can do it in game. It was not clear if I had to do it on steam or on psn so I started the game on PSN and lo and behold I’m screwed… technically haven’t created that character yet.

guys i have a question. so i downloaded the game on steam, played the game but did not bind my account. Now i want to start fresh, so i can just download the client create a new account the link that account with steam right? so I can start the game either from steam or the client with the new account?

You'll need to create two netease accounts. One you link to your Steam you want to delete, and one for the new account you want to keep on the Netease launcher.

How to delete your Steam
1.Login with it on the Official launcher with your new Netease account you want to use to delete Steam
2. Click the small arrow in the bottom left corner and select the icon of a person
3. Click link account in the menu that opens and follow the instructions inside to link
4. Go back to the menu you selected Link account and select Account Deletion, and follow the instructions in the menu that appears.
5. Wait 7 days, Note: Do not login to the account you want to delete during this 7 day period it will cancel the Account Deletion if you login two times)

How to Bind your Steam after Account Deletion:

1. Login with the Netease account you want on the official launcher
2. Click the small arrow in the bottom left, and then click on the icon of a person
3. Select Link Account in the menu that pops up
4. Follow the instructions inside the menu that appears after selecting Link Account

When you have finished linking your account you will be able to login on Steam with the same account you play on the Netease launcher

Hi all! I see that there are many people with similar issues - I am also here with an account linking issue. Here's my details/background:

1. Created an account on Steam (account I want to keep).
2. Downloaded on PS5: but couldn't find "Link Account" button on the title screen. Pressed "Play"...
   --> it created a new game account. (note: I thought I had to open the game to get to the settings window to link that account..I see that is incorrect..

I tried reaching out to the customer support email, but as others have said, I have just been receiving "Bind" template emails that do not help me. 🙁

go into your ps5 game, into settings, and keep hold of square. find the option that says unbind, but note you may have to first link it to a netease account (any account, doesn’t matter). then once you unbind, go onto your pc game, and bind the ps account. log back in on ps and it should work

Thank you very much @mild palm! With some new accounts and some linking, I was able to unlink my PS5 from the "extra" account and link it to my "main" Steam account.

Here's my steps:

1. Created new Netease account (one I don't plan on using) and linked to PS5
2. Linked PS5 account to an X/Twitter account
3. In PS5 game settings menu, held down (Triangle) / "Customer Service" button (seen on the bottom right corner of the screen)
4. New window opened up, under "Common Issues" section, clicked on "Unbind Account"
5. Opens up a chat (likely with a bot)
   -- "Player can unbind account in the game now. Please tap "Unbind Account" to unbind account.
   -- Note:
   -- 1. Players need to bind two accounts at least before unbinding.
   -- 2. Players need to bind Netease Passport first and Netease Passport can't be unbound.
   -- >>Click to Unbind Account<<
6. Click the "Click to Unbind Account" link (blue)
7. Click the account that you wish to unbind
8. Type "Confirm"
9. Click "Next"
10. Back on my main account, Steam, proceed to log in as usual, go to Menu > Settings > Other > Bind Account.
11. Bind PS5 account.
12. Log off Steam and reset PS5 WWM game
13. PS5 game client now shows my Steam character name

Sorry for the long winded message, but I'm just glad this was able to be resolved with help! And hopfully this can help someone else.

Guys, my PC died 2 days ago… before it died I binded my account and created a NetEase account, I downloaded WWM on PS5 and I’m at the login screen but there’s no option to bind or link or whatever… there’s just this scroll icon that I click and the tooltip says log out or something, but nothing happens… any clue on what to do next? Another way to get your existing account on mobile is to sign in with your Netease account.

I just tried this right now. I had not yet bound my Apple/mobile account yet, but when I opened up the game, it asked me to sign in, I chose the red Netease button. After signing in, my main account character name (from Steam) appeared under “Resume”.

WARNING to anyone looking to bind accounts… do NOT click Start before binding, even if you haven’t even created a character, or set up brightness settings, if you click start then you’re DONE, you won’t be able to bind NetEase account from another platform, it happened to me coming from Steam (PC) to PS5, I hope this message helps at least a few of my fellow wanderers. P.S. I haven’t found a solution to log out/delete PS5 Account yet.

iOS Mobile App creates new save data despite linking PSN account first

I started playing on PS5. Then I tried to download the iOS app and logged in with my PSN account, and the game creates new character save data for me... It's the same PSN account though. Something's wrong here

How can it be that my PSN account has one character, and then my Mobile which is logged into the same PSN account has a different character...

what seems to be happening is that the game is letting people bind different characters to one account wether it be steam or psn, and when logging in on different platforms it will show the accounts as “linked” but different characters will be shown

I have character A and Character B, both show the same steam account in the options menu

and unbinding my psn from steam on character B doesnt unbind it on character A even though its the same steam account and psn listed on both characters

So when i log in on mobile using steam account, it shows me the character B instead of character A

and this isnt exclusive to linking certain accounts, it seems that different people are reporting this problem when linking either steam to psn, netease to psn, or even psn to netease (maybe even netease to steam, i dont remember if anyone posted abt this)

Im so stumped. I tried to bind my steam account to mobile to start playing on steam but it says an account is already linked to my steam account. Chiming in to say THIS FIXED IT for me and took less than 20 mins to do after hours of troubleshooting.
I needed to do all the binding/unbinding steps inside the game menu (not the start screen or browser) on PS5 (which had the character I wanted to get rid of). Finally, the character I started 2 weeks ago on Mobile is bound to my PS5 & Steam accounts.

Its a known issue being worked on, fully log out, wait 30 minutes, that will log out the second character completely and allow you to log back into your first account.

Hello, today I wanted to switch my play to my PC on Steam, but when I tried to link my accounts, the option to do so wasn’t there. In the settings, there is no option to link accounts, and the main page doesn’t even have an “Other” tab. In-game, the only option available is to enter a code for rewards.

I then remembered that on the Events page there is a binding reward, and it says I have already bound my game to a PC, but I don’t remember doing this. When I load up WWM on my PC, my character isn’t there—there’s only an option to start a new game.

I also remember seeing several warnings not to start the game in this situation because it would create another character and mess everything up. What am I doing wrong?

I want to make sure that I can bind my game online first (got a PS5 yesterday) and want to play on both steam, ps5 and my phone, and when I go to https://account.wherewindsmeetgame.com/page/account-management/wherewindsmeet/account-center I signed in with net ease account but doesn't show my character under game characters. Do I need to log out and sign in with Steam instead online or can I link or what is the process, I have been wanting to do it through the game but we know how that is right now.

With your Netease account, then you'll want to link all your other accounts underneath that Netease account. As long as you only have the one character and haven't made any characters on the other platforms you shouldn't have any problems linking your accounts

Yes, you can link them all after confirming it properly linked to the netease account

If Its properly linked to your Netease account, nothing will happen. You'll still be able to play as normal on Steam. On mobile you login with your netease account too, and your character will be there if its all properly linked

Just make sure everything is linked, and on new platforms don't click start, wait till you have logged in and you see it change to Resume with your character name under it.

If its playstation, just make sure you properly linked it on the Account Center, or on the main menus of mobile/official launcher before playing on playstation to avoid accidentally making a new character. That process is longer to fix then making sure its all linked properly beforehand

@fiery pagoda Sorry let me clarify is there any real difference logging in online with Steam vs logging in online with NetEase and then linking steam? Couldn't you link them either way but you would recommend signing in with Net Ease online and link from that instead of signing online with steam and linking with that, correct?

Netease is the best as far as I'm aware because it let's you link all other accounts to it. I don't believe Steam allows that without you first connecting it to a Netease account

However it looks like it may have worked when I logged in with Steam instead on the website as it says STeam Current

That showed NetEase Games Recommended and I linked that there now, hopefully that will work instead?

Does your Netease account already have a character? If it doesn't try logging in with the Netease account and then linking it. Or you can try using the menu on the official launcher/mobile app

Are they (The Devs) aware that for some on PS5, you can't select Recommended as it auto switches that to story for difficulty?

I'm not sure, but you can report that in-game using the feedback option, and by emailing them with the guide in #reporting those are the best ways to report game bugs to the Game Support Team.

Did they drop a fix for the binding accounts issues? Im trying to link my PS5 to my main steam acc and it keeps telling me that its already linked and cant be linked again. I did see some people talk about the bind option not existing but im still seeing it on ps5.

Binding and unbinding due to accidentally created new character on ps5. This works for me, may help you too if you have similar situation as mine, here are the steps:

Account 1 - Main character: I started playing on mobile bind with Gmail.

Account 2 - New character created accidentally on ps5 portal - bind/Link with NetEase account. (Maybe deleted later)

Unbind PSN from Account 2, then bind PSN with Account 1.

I didn’t create multiple NetEase accounts. Just created one to bind Account 2 and release the PSN binding from it so that I can link it to Account 1.

Reload the game on PS, and it works loading my main character.

As long as you haven't clicked start on Steam, head over to the official website's Account Center and login. Link your account to a Netease account if you haven't yet, and link your Steam. Next time you load the game it should load your character

Restarting this, I have been on mobile for awhile and used the PC client while in the US. Im traveling in asia and bought another desktop. Trying to use steam for the client it does not allow me to login. And it says account is already bound when trying to bind, and when trying to unbind, it says I need to first bind.

nope, i opened the game, went to settings immediately to bind which had me copy and paste a link, tried logging in using my netease/google account which is my original and used account and it gave the already bound notice.

I will add, on opening the steam game WWM app, it did not let me goto settings without entering the gameplay. only after the cutscenes was I able to goto settings>other to do all this. I did back out to the title screen to verify there was not two accounts either.

side note to this, i am installing, very slowly, the PC standalone game, without steam, but I would like to link steam at some point and there is no ingame support for the issue

that was tried too with the same result. i did log out, clear cache, log back in with same result. also did the same with logging in by google alone instead of net-ease.

Steps so far completed:

• Verify account is not bound first in steam, after getting the notice during Un-Bind that it is not bound.
• Verify account is not bound on the OFFICIAL WWM website.
• Verify account login details are correct and not signing in with an entirely new account.
• Logged out on website, cleared cache, logged back in with Google Account.
• Logged out on website, cleared cache, logged back in with Net-Ease account.
• Logged out in game, which resulted in game force exit.
  • Reopening the game it logins back in without any login prompts via steam ONLY.
  • Trying to logout via command in title menu aka send logout request does not work. Text appears attempting to send request with no visual result.

Note by me: I have played about 4 hours mobile, and 7 hours PC client (not steam client) I am trying to bind steam and net-ease. Only un-bind option that shows is to unbind google. I am also unable to bind the steam account without making a new net-ease account, which I cannot do without first wiping my main account/character by deleting it, then unbinding.

Additional Note: Game works totally fine on PC Client via net-ease login. Issue persists with steam
