I suggest that the mythical beasts from Chinese-Asian folklore have two ways for players to interact with them, offering strategic choices and varied rewards.
1️⃣ Option: Kill the Beast
Gain experience points and standard rewards.
Beast’s blood can be used to craft potions (healing, buffs, strengthening).
Beast’s core can be consumed for an instant power boost.
Elements from powerful beasts can be used to gain skills.
Beast skeleton can be used as decoration.
Materials like scales, horns, hide, claws can craft unique weapons and armor.
Special titles (e.g., “Dragon Slayer”) reward the achievement.
2️⃣ Option: Preserve the Beast
Beast turns into an egg, hatching into a pet companion.
Pet grows gradually, becoming more powerful depending on type and development.
Evolution may include random aspects, such as elemental type or gender.
Female beasts may lay 1–3 eggs, allowing the player to raise or collect them as additional companions.
Advanced System: Rankings and Events
Beasts have an instinct and ranking system: some are so powerful they scare other creatures naturally.
Legendary beasts spawn rarely (e.g., monthly or yearly).
World or regional events may feature a powerful beast; top damage dealers get main rewards, others get secondary rewards.
Monetization Idea:
Cosmetic skins and accessories for mythical beasts could be sold in the shop.
