Hello everyone! I've been slowly working on some fan lore related to “Spark magic”. I wanted to share some of it with you all as I continue to write. I apologize in advance for the bad spelling and grammar that might be in my writing. I am not a practiced writer, I kind of just do it as a hobby. I am also writing this from the perspective of a possible character as I find it a little more interesting and it also helps me write. What you read below is a simplified version of a possible use for spark magic. I'm open to feedback and constructive criticism. Honestly, I was just inspired to write something loreful related to this mod. Not sure if any of this can be useful in some way but I'm writing regardless lol
Notes from Ilithra Everden
We know that the Spark can physically manifest itself in the form of rare crystals found in ruins or by digging deep beneath the earth. But is there a way to infuse spark with other earthly materials? If so, what are the effects and how can we use this to best suit the needs of the Aeluran order? Below are some notes from my studies on Spark infusion.
Note of reference: the phrase “spark infusion” refers to a specific type of Spark manipulation that requires the caster (or casters) to focus a large amount of “spark magic” on a specific item. This process is tedious and can take several hours, sometimes even several days (depending on the type of infusion) as the caster must be cautious on the amount of spark being used at one given time. This process can be quickened by having multiple casters work on an infusion in rotations.
Sparks Effect on Earthly Materials
Copper Ore: This ores had only a minor reaction to spark manipulation. Resulting in a minor glow that faded within hours. In some cases the ore would crumble into smaller pieces during the infusion process. (more tests will be done to see if another process can be used to extend the sparks' influence on this ore.)
Iron ore: Promising response. This ore held spark longer than copper, lasting several days.
Silver and gold ores: These ores have the best reaction so far. Currently
Amethyst, Topaz, Quartz Crystal, Sapphire, Ruby and Emerald: Reactive. All of these held Spark leaving a noticeable glow and even some form of swirling Spark essence inside.
Obsidian: Reaction was violent. Attempting to infuse Spark with obsidian resulted in an explosion that injured several of my assistants even maiming one. I have temporarily suspended tests on obsidian until a safer method of testing can be done.
Note that although all of these materials are just a few that reacted to spark infusion in some way, the usability of spark essence was limited on initial tests. More will be explained.
Intent and Will
All of the listed above Materials reacted to Spark Infusion but aside from some noticeable physical effects these items didn't have much practical use or even seem to take advantage of the Spark essence inside. At some point during testing it became clear that much like manipulating spark itself the caster had to have intent of the cast present in their mind in order to have an actual effect imprint on an item. More to come…
