I'm noticing that any of the 'immortal = yes' traits are causing an issue where whatever age someone obtains that trait stays that age physically. As you can see in the screenshot Meldrid starts the game at age 1 and due to him having the immortal elf trait he stays this way (the boss baby reborn). I also realized this because my elf got the trait at 17 and I was wondering why I could not get a beard (it's because you can't get a beard till 18).
