This option really did help me get through the early game deaths. Lost all your good gear to an unlucky death? No problem, support gear and the stats from collections will get you either even or stronger than everyone else! The difference between a player using collection and one not is night and day in fights. I play ranger expecting to be squishy, but all my collection stats turn a 40-50 hit into 15-30.

Mercenary recruitment bonus is the same btw, make sure you're recruiting and upgrading as much as possible
