I think it’d be a great addition to the game mode and would be a very fun way to travel around the map if we could saddle horses.

I believe It would be most useful during early game until players craft the glider. Even then, being able to ride on horses would still be useful.

Great idea! Check out my previous post with the same suggestion. Notably, horses could maintain more usefulness than gliders by having their own inventory, which effectively makes them a mobile chest.

Horse - Horses of different colors can be found around the map, less frequently than cows and sheep. Perhaps restrict certain colors to specific biomes (ie white in the frostlands). Approach a horse and pet it to make it like you. Do the action button again to ride. Riding it will automatically make it wear a bridle and saddle. Riding a horse offers a form of faster travel, as a horse runs 2x faster than your character does while sprinting. Make it feel good and look nice to ride. A horse doesn't despawn once ridden, if it is in a village.

Hitching Post - A simple structure that can allow a horse to be tied to it. If you dismount a horse and stand next to both a horse and hitching post, a "Hitch Horse" action option will be available for the action button. This only appears on the hitching post if a horse is nearby.

Saddlebag - Optional bag able to be attached to the horse, that provides inventory space. Clicking "More actions" button on the horse will allow the Open Inventory OR the Ride Horse actions. Several tiers of saddlebag could be unlocked, offering 12, then 18, then 24 inventory slots. Alternatively, opening your character's inventory near a horse that has a saddlebag, could show both the character's inventory and the horse's inventory simultaneously as one does when viewing the contents of a chest.
