Make shields easier to use.

Currently, shields are rarely used, and that’s because their point cost is very high. Many players would rather spend those points on a high-cost weapon, or on reinforcing their armor and helmet, instead of carrying a shield.

I personally enjoy both fighting with a shield and fighting against an opponent who uses one. Shield defense here isn’t like in other generic games where it’s controlled by programmed animations — instead, it’s about physically stopping the opponent’s weapon or maneuvering around it to land an attack. It’s a very unique and fun mechanic that really embodies the essence of Gladio Mori. However, if you’re aiming for efficiency, you’ll rarely get the chance to use shield.

I’d be happy if lowering the point cost of shields significantly (maybe around 30% less?) encouraged more players to use them. At present, I think the weapon distribution in online play is roughly:
Two-handed: 60%
Dual weapon: 30%
One-handed: 7%
With shield: 3%
Ideally, I’d like to see it shift to something like:
Two-handed: 50%
Dual weapon: 25%
One-handed: 5%
With shield: 20%

its cool but players dont use shield cuz of the amount of buttons you have to press to block, and theres a bug that doesnt allow you to turn while pressing on some amount of buttons

#

so blocking is just not worth it if ure fighting on 1x

The fact that defending itself isn’t worth it might be the biggest problem Gladio Mori currently faces.
Defending with a weapon generally doesn’t work well, so in Creative Mode, where movement is slow, it’s almost impossible to beat a halberd or spear.

I think the structure where shields have an advantage over spears, spears over swords, and swords over shields is beautiful, but right now shields are so weak that spears end up being the strongest.

i play mouse and keyboard and have primarily used blocking as my trump card. any experienced player/anyone knowledgeable on how to effectively fight irl will be able to tell you how good blocking really is.

#

if enemy weapon longer than your weapon, blocking usually is good.

#

That being said, as a shield player i dont think the shields need to have lower point totals.
However, many other things in the game have had the point totals changed and that may have had an effect on the efficacy of shields.

I do think that they cost a lot to use, but they are giant walls that stop weapons in their tracks.
