I get what you mean. And it's like, you want to give something, pitch in your share to the community in some way. But feeling both trapped for new things, and minimizing what you've done so far, especially if you try compare yourself to others with more experience and time in these things. Sometimes it can even feel like both a push to try to do more, but also a demotivator in feeling helpless. Like falling behind in a race. But this isn't a race, it's a passion project.
uh oh, I'm pulling out the spaced sections, yapping time. But even though it is a passion project, sometimes you might have to push yourself. Relying only on passion/only on when you feel like it would be like waiting for perfect weather before getting out of bed, or going outside. You have to balance a little bit of habit, and form a sort of path/flow. Because it's a passion project, not work, don't push yourself too much that you burn out, obviously. But even doing like one task a day, and over the course of several days, you already have a handful completed. Even better if you do get the burst of motivation to do more at the time. Habit makes it easier to get into doing it, and passion as the occasional supplement to push yourself further.
It also probably might not help that you're unsure with how to handle your moon idea. Here, you're stuck. And it's okay to put it to the side to work on another, more simple idea, while you get more familiar with what you have access to

I think I started working on something too big was one main reason, but also the pressure I give myself to produce quality things. I try to compare myself to people that already produce quality stuff such as beanie and jacuj among many others.
the feeling of being overshadowed is not fun

It's fine to dream big, and there's no rush to release stuff, but starting smaller projects to learn is in my opinion a key factor to improve and to lead you into bigger and more complex projects. Starting a big project with no prior practice will undoubtedly get to a point of chokehold where the lack of knowledge can most likely burn you out and leave you feeling like you've failed since you have not finished a project.
There's 2 ways of going forward at this point, push forward and have the risk of burning out or leave the more complex projects aside for a bit and start smaller, more manageable projects
I had the idea of Lua from the very start, even before installing unity, but if I started there I would've burnt out 100%.
I'm very fond of Taldor because it was my playground, the one moon that made me learn the basics, and that was the jumpstart for making all sorts of things. And obviously not being shy to ask for help from seasoned peeps around
I believe you can do fantastic stuffs Beef, you got potential and good ideas. Try to not overscope at the beginning and you'll achieve fantastic things

This just isnt true. Works in the community are NOT just mods. Every model and art piece youve made is a complete project. You may not have released a lot of mods in comparison to others, but you've done a lot of other things that are highly inspiring to others, and have given advice to others. You've already influenced the community in a lot of ways, more than most have. You don't have to make lots of mods for that to be the case.
I often feel discontent because I dont release moons as frequently as others and I'm not as good at it as others are either. But it's important to remember it doesn't matter how often or how many mods you make. Making a mod is a passion project and you aren't obligated to make them in the first place.
When making a mod you should do it at the pace you're most happy with rather than rushing because you feel like you have to.
