but yeah long story short, we made a bunch of stuff, our team got to know each other and become good friends, solid and siphon became uninterested by lethal company modding or had personal life stuff happen. I kept working on it adding minor features with the help of xu. Siphon wanted to make a game together, him and solid also having some game dev experience. So we shifted focus to a project we were more passionate about.

You can speak through any enemy you can spectate using the SpectateEnemies mod
So you can sorta balance it around whatever they can spectate
For example in mine you cant spectate Ghost girl or some of the other spookier enemies, so it keeps some surprise
Makes it alot more fun for spectators, especially if they get to speak through a masked of themselves

btw we played with surfaced yesterday and everytime someone killed the clownfish their speed boost would never go away, and their speed increased at the start of every round
we were also testing a lot of unfinished content so I doubt it's a consistent issue with surf'd

goofy game mechanic: if 2 bell crabs find a bell, they will play cups and balls (if u win u can take the real bell)

The spawnrates etc seemed fine so it was never really looked into whether that worked or not
i suppose i could take a moon, add only mantis shrimps or something, and try to see if they spawn alone or in groups without the mod installed

The clownhorn fish is probably the most murdered creature in surfaced, then its urchins then bellcrabs and the rest dont die

The squeeze was a click before and it had 1 hp meaning it got in the way of fights and people kept missclicking cuz it got in the way
like I actually sat there for a good 10 seconds and just looked at my monitor
Also most people squeezed it and saw the boost and thought that was its only purpose
And rhwn just kept squeezing it on sight
Never getting any of the other buffs
The squeeze is my biggest failure
I didnt even notice the boost because I didn't move for 10 seconds

Urchins are like cancer cells and they multiply quickly, bruce controls his surrounding gravity, sea mines are temporal anomalies and all the same mine that once blew up a submarine and its crew, now it sends out the subs final ping as an eerie warning
ok first two are "normal" but the sea mines are so grim
Clownhorn fish floats cuz its light as a balloon
Yeah we had this pseudo lore i cooked up of a temporal space kraken that gets killed andnits blood leaking in a nerby body of water is what creates all the surfaced creatures
Except bruce, bruce attacked the kraken when he was a normal shark managing to wound it and get his powers
Which makes him a beast of legend pre dating all others
And also fun fact i like is that bruces final last ditch move agaisnt an opponent is to control the gravity and compress all of his mass into an infinitely small point and become a black hole, assuring mutual destruction
But nothing comes close to being able to kill bruce except a titan we wanted to make a while back
Wouldve been a big swordfish named marlin and they could fight eachother and whichever won would be the "titan class" enemy that gets to stay on the map

Congratulations man! Surfaced has definitely been one of our favorites. We may have rotated it out a few times just to change the pack up a little, but it always returns 😄 The mod pack just doesn't feel right when surfaced isn't active.

There’s a creature from StarFox Adventures that looked like a Jellyfish and would be aggro’d if you got too close, in which it’d start spinning and coming towards you. It’s tendrils would hurt you if you touched them.
Perhaps there could be an enemy that spins towards you and hurts you if you get too close
Another idea would be creating an enemy that’s like the manta ray from Super Mario Sunshine.

@plucky shale correct me if im wrong, in your lostenemyfix mod, you check if there is a destination and thats what you use to decide if the enemy is, broken i guess?
as far as i was able to tell online, SetDestination being false just meant that there wasnt a valid path to said destination
You're right but there's reason for this implementation. Going any deeper leads you to external code calls that make things a bit more complicated. The reason I'm catching failed pathing like that is because that's what gets called every frame on a vanilla enemy ai and causes the lag when an enemy is spawned on an off mesh node.

basically in this custom enemy, the destination is sometimes invalid, which i imagine shouldn't matter? im wondering if you could just, check if the enemy is on navmesh instead of whats currently being done
im fairly sure the agent has an onNavmesh property
the simplest implementation i could think of is just, on update or something, checking if the agent is both active and if its on navmesh
though i dont like patching update stuff tbf
I can look into that, probably would do it like only when it fails to path still rather than every frame but I could look into something

yes, she always attacking Surfaced passive and invvincibility creatures. u can manually blacklist them in code rebirth config
