I think I'd like to try creating this mod myself eventually (zero experience with mods/advanced coding xd) but in case someone more experienced likes this idea, please go ahead (I may still take a crack at it regardless xd) **Some spoilers about Fear & Hunger's mechanics if you care yoiled **

If you're unfamiliar with Fear & Hunger, it's a grimdark and brutally punishing/unfair RPGmaker game that is best played blind and without guides (in my opinion). An example of the game's unfairness would be the coin flip mechanic. To save your game in most spots of the game, you have to flip a coin and choose a side. If you chose wrong, you get attacked by an enemy. Combat is best avoided for the majority of the game as you perma lose limbs/party members etc. If your party falls, you can lose A LOT of progress. It is brutal UAHGHHUAHGHHH

It sounds like a pretty nasty and unfun mechanic (especially when you first play πŸ˜…) but you eventually find out that these coin flips can reaaalllly open up the game for you. Additional coins can be found throughout the game and can be used during these events to have a better chance of succeeding (your character will always have a coin for coin flips, the additional coins are inventory items and are consumed upon use). You can beeline to coins and use them on bookshelves to get things like blank scrolls (which are extremely powerful as they can grant you almost anything in the game, whether it be character abilities or strong weapons alright ).

I think a mechanic like this would be really neat in LC, especially when friends are involved x) The crew starts off with one coin w/ more attainable via a low spawn rate on moons (does not replace scrap). And just like in F&H, there would be various ways to use them boiled

Some quick brainstorming I did:

  1. In the store to get sales (Fail 🚫: Lose all credits | Succeed βœ…: 50% off next two store purchases, ship upgrades included. Only useable in orbit and sale disappears on lever pull. This is to prevent just using coins on day 1/Gordion before selling/while broke and not risking anything. If the sale stayed, ppl could just flip, get sale, wait till end of quota for paycheck and cash in big for no risk)

  2. On an idle Jester/new chest enemy (Fail 🚫: Instant pop | Succeed βœ…: Get a valuable scrap item, worth ~3-4x the average item on that moon)

  1. On Gordion for sellable scrap items (for when you're off quota by a bit) (Fail 🚫: Everyone explodes πŸŽ† | Succeed βœ…: Gain 15-30 scrap in items)

  2. On a new quota to alter enemy spawn for the quota (Fail 🚫: Only high threat enemies | Succeed βœ…: Only passive/low threat enemies, double power cap and spawning speed. Safer moons but not completely free runs)

  3. Just to be silly (Fail 🚫: You explode | Succeed βœ…: Nearest teammate explodes)

Just some quick ideas to convey how the mechanic could more or less function in game. I am not a game designer or anything, so I realize some ideas need work (which is why I had to add some conditions for the store flip lol). There has to be lows for the highs to be sought after methinks :D (of course save scumming is always gonna be there, nothing to be done about that xd)
