PASSIVE
- Roams deep within facility, doesn't seek you out
- Flees like a bracken from employees
- Super non-lethal unless you really bug her like a hoarding bug for example
CURIOUS
- When any employee becomes injured they will slowly fill a meter that marks them as the Aloe's obsession
- More injured = faster meter fill
- Aloe knows where injured employees are on the entire map no matter what and will stalk the currently highest meter employee
OBSESSED
- When an employee fully fills the obsession meter, all other employees have their meters reset and paused
- There can only be one obsession
- Aloe will intensely stalk the Obsession with the Bracken stalk pattern, but instead of breaking your neck will just snatch you
- When an obsession is snatched they are brought to the bracken nest where the aloe bracken will do a weird lil animation that heals the obsession
- When the obsession is healed to full health, Aloe will roam the surrounding area exactly like she does in her passive state, except now she CAN kill other employees(?)
- if the obsession leaves the nest she will realize after a delay and attempt to repossess the obsession non-lethally
- Alternatively, while the obsession is being dragged or held by the Aloe, they can wiggle A and D on their movement to try and break free
- Breaking free stuns the Aloe briefly so that the obsession can beat cheeks and leave before she comes after them
- If an obsession repeatedly breaks free or sneaks out of the nest, there will be a steadily increasing chance that she switches to her Punishment phase
- Injuring the Aloe contributes a SIGNIFICANT amount to this chance
PUNISHMENT
- The Aloe attempts to kill her obsession after becoming exhausted by them
- Alternatively, if her obsession is injured by another employee, THEY will be the target of punishment
- Looking at her in this state no longer scares her off at all
- She will be solely focused on her target and nobody else
And then just as was mentioned, if the obsession escapes the building, they will lose their obsession status after, like, idk, 15 seconds?
At which point Aloe goes back to passive

If she's trying to PUNISH someone who hurt her baby this will not reset her to Passive, she reverts to Obsessed (unless her obsession died)

Especially if her nest is far from any exit

and she doesn't really accelerate like the bracken normally does
so outrunning her's not too hard if you watch out for walls and dead ends
and, y'know, monsters
also i think what makes brackens able to be outrun for atleast a little bit is how they have a slower turning speed
so most likely this would also carry over to her

@crude valve so this would be the one. Most of it is behind a developer dc but what the mod is all about is adding variants of existing monsters and dynamically spawning them and the og entities to give a unique feeling to the game. ||It will also have unique / cursed items added|| but the main theme is around the variants.
Icon would be 256x256 and banner for readme im not quite sure right now but if you give it in some sort of rectangle size i could scale it down later. It wont need writing on it, i’ll add a custom font onto it later.

Okay- so- this is very long but here
It’s called a Banshee Hawk
A much more slender and creepy looking Baboon Hawk, lurking in dark environments. Its white glowing eyes resemble the bracken, with a blank stare.
The physical appearance is more slim and much skinnier then its much bulkier cousin. It appears to be more of a pale blue, with hair on its head, neck, and arms.
Its arms appear to be slightly longer than the original, able to grab and move more efficiently.
Its hands are much larger, able to grip and use tools to its advantage.
Its wings appear the same, though much thinner.
Its legs remain roughly the same.
Looking a little thinner
Its head still has the bone look to it. The horns however curve up instead for mostly display, but will use them to instead charge at predators.
It has a tendency to steal more then just items, on occasion, it will capture players by surprise and drag them to its nest. Ending their life or saving them or later.

would be cool that because of their slender body they could lift their own weight better
cuz like, since the baboon hawk's so heavy and has such dinky wings it can't actually fly
so if this one's lighter maybe it could at least jump 👁️

Not really, it’s more of a solo hunter, but sometimes they will team up with others to drag heavy players away, they will fight one another for the items and food though

we all share our thoughts on concepts and decide what way one variant should be like

- 3 animators (maybe 4?)
- 4 modellers
- 3 sounddesigners
do the modelers and animators have overlap (aka somebody does both)
or I guess that goes for all roles

For the 19 members of the dc we are crediting them in the readme once the mod is uploaded. Some might have added more to the mod than others (meaning some only were there for ideas/lore/etc. concept phase stuff) but they still added a ton to the whole thing - and will continue to add to the later batches 😁

I'm also a bit scared to try it with the monsters we have 😳 the unknown is super scary but knowing them in writing but experiencing them in game is also different

recently wrote something that would justify speciation within the Hoarding bug population, enjoy!
The common Hoarding bug seems to have a pack mentality when it comes to its survival instincts, they may be alone at times but they're best suited to work as a team in their scavenging efforts. Their fixation with collecting trash is a remnant of their past, when they used to compete with many other insectoid life forms, causing them to try their best to collect as much food as possible before their competition did.
Their diet consisted of dead insects, food scraps and small bits of carrion that they'd be able to break down slowly to feed their pack. Their sort of pack mentality (more akin to gang mentality as competition with other insects began to subside) did not extend to other members of it species, meaning that when competition with other life forms began to quiet down, they would fight amongst themselves, eventually isolating different groups to different environments, forcing them to change up their body plan and eating habits, but retaining their most primal instincts.
I also wrote a big chunk of text about the evolutionary history of light bugs
but i'll post that when all bugs are written about
I'll work on some writing tidbits like these for most of the biologically tied variant groups we have, so whoever happens to enjoy these, you have something to look forward to heheh
