Due to an influx of employees the company has decided to construct a new ship for an expanded crew.
The Bulkhead is a ship that is doubled the size of the current one, with two stories designed to carry a capacity of 8.
The Vault and Locker Room
-On the first floor of the ship is a Locker Room m for storing equipment and behind it is The Vault, The Vault can only be opened while in orbit, any scrap stored in the vault is retained if the crew perished during scrap collection. Accessible by a Hydraulic Door at the front of the ship.
The Launch Room
-Accessible by ladder from the Locker Room and stairs on the outside through a Hydraulic Door, your typical command room Terminal and everything, the loud horn when bought is placed in the middle of the balcony of the second floor a perfect place to lure dogs... if they don't get you firsy that is.
Quirks of The Ship
-Hydraulic doors are connected to each other in a weird way, when one is closed the other doesn't, be wary of infighting over whose door should be closed.
-The Ship takes off slower but lands faster than the original.
-if the vault is not closed (the terminal will warn) entering a moon it will be open for the whole day until entering orbit again. Scrap can be lost if the vault is kept open.

There have been... a LOT of suggestions for increasing ship size. This one is super nice though.
I honestly kind of want to think of more ways for the company to cut corners for this ship but the three stated ones are probably enough for now.
what I had in mind for layout
scuffed concept definitely could be a lot better. maybe make it not exactly similar to the original ship
Bulkhead concept 2
Damn I like that second one, but in keeping with the vanilla style it would probably be less sleek
Yeah though the sleek one could be very funny, had in mind the part that drops open for the locker room to just open with a large bang... which may or may not attract dogs immediately.
Nah it should be painfully slow failing hydraulics
good shit being cooked here
It fits the vanilla aesthetic quite well!
What do others think? I'll probably make one or two more concepts.
I do like love the ship design, it's just every time I see one of these ideas someone's like "trying to make this work would be a developer nightmare and break everything ever". Something to do with AI pathfinding. Still, I support this idea
AI Pathfinding isn't too much of a concern
the real issue is the ship taking up more space than the levels were built for
@prime sequoia if you wanted to take this from concept to implementation
my two biggest suggestions which your more than free not to pursue would be
- Have the bulk of the new rooms be in orbit with the ship that goes to the planets like dock into it
- instead have variations of the main ship with about the same size but on the company building have them all kinda like in a line
so you can take off from the company building in the ship you'd prefer
Oooh I kinda like that. Maybe you have to buy new ships for a large sum of credits
Some of which could have interesting features like onboard defense systems, advanced teleportation mechanisms etc
The gears in my head are turning but due to my lack of sufficient c# skill (currently taking courses on it) the output gear is not connected.
Oh shit... Basically an Orbiter
yeah, i think one of the two options would be the most practical to implement considering you can't account for planet level design
this idea is great and I would love to see this implemented
Stuff from this mod (under Batbys advice) would be like a Vault Ship where 3/4ths of the ship room is taken up by the vault but it's the same size as the normal ship, meaning on the surface you're cramped like sardines in a can. So you're trading off room (and special ship capabilities of other ships) for not losing scrap
Or 1/4th of the ship is taken up by the vault and it's not a real room, just a slot in the wall you can put loot into when in orbit
Using like a special monitor and buttons to switch between stored items or pull out the selected one
The fun part about being incredibly cramped in the ship would be that at night the metaphor can go from "sardines in a can" to "sardines in a blender" if someone makes noise at the wrong time
hmm I might edit this post to be more general and be like different ship types along with styles example:
Barge:
A Large Ship-Type that only stays in orbit, with a detachable Landing Craft that is significantly smaller and cramped. Scrap on the barge will be retained while scrap on the Landing Craft is lost if a full team wipe occurs.
Carrier:
A Large Ship-Type that does not land but deploys a Mobile Crate Platform, store scrap into a crate and have it be sent up at certain times, the last rotation at around 10pm-12am will alert that anyone not on the platform will be left behind. When it enters the atmosphere and loading up cargo it'll make a lot of noise attracting Dogs. Scrap that had been loaded up will be saved.
This has been suggested a few times and I really hope we end up seeing someone doing a mod like this, even if it simply replaces the base ship. Right now my thing with lethal is I tend to play it with like 8 people at once and 8 people talking in such a crowded space can be a free headache
Would be nice :)
Even though it's not super realistic it would be cool if the player voices are a bit muffled when on different decks of the ship
Actually let me make some designs rq, I feel The Idea taking control
The Lamma?
Vague attempt at drawing what the layout of the vault ship would be. Interior scale not accurate, just think of it as barely having room for the basic necessities
Forgive my terrible mouse drawings
The vault system would be shut down planetside for the same reason the doors don't stay closed forever planetside: the ship mechanisms work on either hydraulic or pneumatic power, which stay on low power while the thrusters are off. I think this is a great balance between using mods that change/disable item loss currently and not using any mod whatsoever
OOH, WAIT. The hydraultics thing gave me another idea and then I had another one on top of that
Woah I didn't think the vault would be this technical
I was just imagining a big storage room
Blast Door Ship- replaces hydraulic door with heavy blast doors. No time limit to stay closed, but stays open for several seconds making an awful cacophony of sirens before finally slamming shut. Good for sealing in an operator as long as nobody plans to go in and out.
Scanner ship- Features an enhanced scanning system capable of mapping the entire facility at the cost of zooming in. Changes monitor to show the full facility layout instead of one player at a time. Can still switch player for teleportation, but does not change view to that player or give any indication of who's who, making it a little difficult to know who's getting snare flea'd in the moment. Second monitor shows a slightly zoomed-out radar of the ship surroundings instead of railing camera (or bodycams? If that's possible to account for?).
Wouldn't be a bad solution, might be more feasible than complex input/output drop chute
Depends on if the person theoretically taking on this project can make the game specifically not delete items in this one specific section of the ship
Which I know nothing about
The vault door could look like the doors from MoreInteriors
So are these ideas different ships or just upgrades?
Remote delivery ship- features a small drone ship that only attaches while in orbit and can be given items through a wall slot like the vault ship. Instead of storing them however, the drone ship will automatically ferry the items to the Company building and sell them automatically at the current buying rate minus 5% while you land on the orbiting moon. As long as you're ok with not getting 100% buyrate on the last day, you can stay on Titan or whatever paid moon you are using.
Different ships. This whole convo started with someone suggesting you could buy new ships at the Company building
Interesting
Since the bulkhead being bigger could end up being a problem, mainly on modded moons
I decided to continue my different ship ideas on this post because there are too many "New ship" mod ideas posts already. TBH we need a megapost or something that everyone can just be like "this is how I would do the idea"
Yoo this all sounds fire. You could even shrink the ship at the beginning to add stages of ship upgrades starting with a dinkey rust ship
Then have 3-4 “levels” that load in orbit that change depending on what station upgrades you’ve purchased
Yea i was actually thinking what if the company was so cheap you had to buy the basic ship. The mod starter ship would have no radar and a barely working door
Maybe no charger or only charges halfway.
I really like this (please make the first ship garbage. Ie, pressing the button to close the door works 20% of the time)
If anyone is down to try this programming wise lmk and i can give some leads from what I know
Idea I'm porting from another thread: what if instead of diff. Ships, it's all upgrades to the main ship?
Pay big money to install a vault that walls off half the ship when the door is closed and landed?
Would simplify the process a little
Large Ships, More Ships, Ship Upgrades.
Fits better now that we're going in this direction
Actually...
Shipyard: Large Ships, More Ships, Ship Upgrades.
Ooooo
I'd love to see this exist eventually
I think there's a big demand in the modding community for more ship variations
actually I think a library mod for changing the ship would be a good idea
A core mod for handling interior collision changes and abilities for other mods to hook into? If people get enough ideas maybe
Hmm
The Dropship:
-A Large Ship not designed to land but to send down pods that fit up to three people at most, crew must return to the drop pods to send scrap back to the ship, drop pods automatically leave at 12am but can manually be sent back up via a button on the outside of the pod. Pods have an inaccurate navigation system that may lead to landing further than intended.
I've still been thinking about this. MSUS (Modular ship upgrade system):
Ship has its own set of upgrades, like LGU but cranked up to 11. Start with almost nothing. Not even monitors or a charger. You have to buy the cupboard for 50 credits. Some upgrades are like the signal translator or teleporter- furniture that you place to be able to use. Others merely replace entire segments of the ship, like Blast Doors or the vault partition and are thus immoveable.
Some of these ideas (including past ones):
Blast doors- replace normal doors with intimidating blast doors. infinite battery, long closing animation that attracts dogs. Possible compat with lgu: shutter batteries reduce time spent closing since it would otherwise be useless.
Vault: 1/3 of the ship is closed off behind a partition. Desk moves outside the vault and the hatch door only opens in orbit to protect the goods inside. For balance, anyone in the vault doesn't count as alive to prevent autopilot wipe- can't fully replace blast doors. Vault also would be more expensive by far.
Blueprint scanner: adds a view to the radar that is the fully lit interior map with no indicators showing all stacked rooms on top of each other.
Thruster upgrade: reduces all moon costs by 15%
Radar dish: zooms all players out on the monitor.
Intercom: allows operators to send voice to the entire facility while the power is on. When loud horn is unlocked, can be used to send voice long range outside.
Lucky horseshoe: wall mounted item that alters random chance events somewhat to your favor like what spawns, where you inverse teleport to etc... You believe it's good luck and therefore it IS good luck
Electrified walkway: deters enemies and crew from boarding via electric shock using the same kind of limited battery mechanic as the door. Make sure to turn it off for your friends so they don't die horribly!
Emp field generator: shuts down all electrical devices on the map for 30 seconds. Everything. Cooldown of two minutes
This would genuinely go absolutely crazy with that solar system mod idea
Ha, imagine if the ship started with a horrid rust texture and you could get rid of it for 20 credits and no real benefit...
tbh I want upgrades for everything, useless things included
theres a flashgame called upgrade complete that is a great example of this
Delivery portal: wall hatch that functions as a refined Inverse teleporter but for items. Anything you place on it is dropped on the ground in the same room as the radar target (main door if the target is invalid like blueprint scanner view). 1 item at a time, 20 second cooldown between shipments.
Motion sensors: slight beep noise when something enters viewing range of the ship
There is at least one other thread suggesting a coffee machine but it deserves to be mentioned because it's a good idea
Another well refined big ship thread <3
Imo all of your ideas would fit well in their own suggestion post for ship upgrades too
Yeah but I also felt like we should keep ship related ideas in one thread because there are already so many threads
