on a moon with a large open exterior like Orion, these two mods really make giants a lot more forgiving
or in Wesley's moon's case, a moon like Etern
and atlantis as well because I noticed they spawn there too

Hi, so i have a problem where on the Cosmocos map theres basically this hole with water inside if you walk forward after exiting the ship
And for one of my friends theres basically a wall, for the other one theres no hole and can walk above the water like jesus and for me i just fall inside

For some reason that moon takes a lot of time/effort to load, and either makes the program not respond while doing so, or straight up crash
Half my friends crashed while attempting to land there

It not really that different from all the others in terms of special things
Although i guess there ARE a lot more moving parts in that moon compared to others
With all the moving ice blocks, the elevator, the earth leviathans, and the ice walls (which i haven’t really seen myself, but i have been told they exist)
The only planet that probably comes close to the amount of moving parts on Polarus is Atlantica

I also have this on Acidir, but with a lot fewer messages, so the lag is much lighter

I have a 5 minute video waiting for Polarus to load, but I had to shorten the time and lower the quality.
There is nothing interesting, it is simply to accompany my explanation.

Could be a few things causing that, I'd say restart the game and try again

Every time there is a Polarus update I am very keen to try the map, but I never got around to it. unu
i think the most likely outside inside enemy for this place is snare fleas. to quote the bestiary: "The snare flea thrives in dark, warm areas." "It cannot survive low temperatures and generally avoids open air and sunlight"
this jungle seems like it would be very warm and moist, and with the darkness it seems like it might be a perfect habitat for them.
there is technical issues to be concerned about though. i think they can only hide on decently low ceilings
also i think stormy on acidir should be replaced with rainy

I second this, coil heads outside are super cool but might need to be toned down a bit? right now they are a pain in the ass lol, everyone in my group prefers vanilla planets, since the update, because asteroid became such a hassle, relative to the scrap worth on it.
maybe limiting it to one coilhead that spawns after midday might work? I haven’t had issues tho

like this example maybe polarus tune i quickly rushed together. making small tunes is alot easier than making full tracks, especially if you're not particularly a musician. made for ||when the worm first appears upon landing||
something to consider is that there isnt a way to replace the little vanilla music bits

Only map I've seen either bugs or baboons enter the ship in any way is GenericMoons Vertigo, someone showed a clip of that happening
Unsure of what's causing that, but I did notice the ship DOES hang pretty low on that map (to the point the underside framework does clip into the ground), been awhile since I've played on the map myself so unsure if it still happens
with the vanilla OffMeshLinks, I think lootbugs can only get on the ship if they're flying

Yesterday I forgot to send video, but I tried again by restarting my Steam Deck and making sure I have the most current version, but it doesn't work.
I uninstalled some mods on another try, but that didn't work either.
Asteroid-13, Infernis, Atlantica, Acidir and Gratar work perfectly for me.
I think my favorite moon is Gratar and secondly Asteroid-13 especially because of the Coil-Heads that are outside.
Does anyone else have this issue?
I know Polarus takes way longer that your other moons to load, especially in multiplayer, but I’ve never had issues in solo

Polarus starts up quickly as Wesley says when I don't change the price.
However, if I change the price of Polarus, the map no longer works.
I have the price modified for all the windows and they all work correctly. However, the moment I change the price of Polarus, the map stops working.
I mean, I only test it when I set the price to 0 (actually the price I want to set is 140).

There is a lag when landing on Acidir, the logs indicate the same type of error as Polarus before your fix. I think it is the same problem but less impactful

the issue of weather effects vanishing upon entering/leaving seems to still remain
Apologies if this has been mentioned before, but has anyone been having consistent crashes on Cosmocos, particularly when re-entering the ship after landing? I tried a bit of local debugging and found that using the freecam mod pretty much always instantly caused a crash, and I've seen people frequently crash when either teleported into the ship, or walking in manually. We also use the OpenBodyCams mod which loads up a head-mounted camera that only renders when you're inside the ship, so I suspect that there might be an incompatibility with mods that spawn more cameras at runtime? I also have a friend who mentioned that ||the moon did something weird to his camera at one point, iirc it massively increased his FOV?||, and while I have no idea if that was actually the moon or simply another mod, that would feed into the hypothesis a bit.
When I get the chance I'd like to do some extra testing with OpenBodyCams to see if that's indeed what's causing the crashes, but since entering the ship isn't a consistent crash I'm not sure what I can do beyond enter and leave it a whole bunch of times with it both on and off to see if there's a difference
iirc just set that to true in openbodycams' config
Ah, has that been discussed before then? If the crash is related to the active person on cam being inside then I suppose that does make sense, given that's typically what happens when someone gets teleported

It’s just way too confusing and dark to find it
I tried following the lights
Both on the ground and the trees
It aint really help
first time we went there it was foggy and we didn't even know about that mechanic, then the day after it was stormy
my main group is still not a big fan of cosmocos after that incident, but I will make them warm up over time...
My group hasn’t been to the moon yet, and i dont really wanna introduce them to it until i find an actual way to get to the building
with the ||lights|| (not sure if that needs to be spoilertagged still) I noticed that sometimes they're pretty far apart and you really have to scan your screen for the next one, or they're obscured by foliage
yeah I'd be more inclined to bring my group there if entry was more foolproof, doesn't feel right to give everyone a briefing on how to find the entrance cause I wanna let em explore organically
but then also you pay a lot to travel there, and until people get more used to the map you just won't bring back that much loot (we got more on our average assurance run than cosmocos on our first try), so the first time experience doesn't really incentivize returning ✊ 😔

and fair, I didn't consider losing track of which way is which. to me the breadcrumb trail is already there so adding another one in the form of glowsticks wouldn't do much. though I guess you could leave a glowstick on one end of a ||light flower|| and have that indicate it's the direction to the entrance
I might mess with this value in LLL (assuming it works) just to give my groups a bit more incentive to explore
they're cowards, they lose interest in going back if it's past 5PM lmao
Like say i took a jetpack, flew up above, took a screenshot and mapped it out. Sure, that might work for when i’m there, it wouldn’t work the next time i arrive, meaning i’d have to do that process again for the new layout. Same goes for the next time i arrive, and the next, and the next.
And you’d end up doing that for god knows how many layout combinations

it’s like trying to map out the layout of an interior every time you arrive at a moon

If you do decide to try mapping it out, you'll be able to figure out which route is open for you at the time simply by looking at which direction the plants lead you from the ship
Maybe not always directly from your map but from the experience you gained while making it
||How many branches are there in the generated paths? are the paths sorta seeded as a whole, or can you have, for example, 1 starting points, which then has 2 variations, then those 2 variations each have 2 variations halfway through, etc etc. (if that's something you don't mind people knowing, ofc)||
if they're uniquely memorable then it'd also just build up some muscle memory after a while, if the pattern is recognizable enough
||There are 3 main branches which have sub branches, with each branch leading to a unique looking area. They shouldn't be very difficult to remember||

I haven't been there enough yet to ||really recognize the unique looking areas, but knowing that was an active decision means it's probably just a case of getting used to it over time. ||to me, with my limited visits to Cosmocos, I got the impression that there's big blue flowers close to the ship, then small blue flowers when you go towards the facility, and the green hanging bulbs once you get really close. And also the red hue of the fire escapes when you get really close. So far that pattern has felt consistent regardless of the path I've taken, though.||
that's also a grand total of 5 days spent going to cosmocos, so I haven't really had the opportunity to get to know it thoroughly. and my friends play a lot less than I do, so for them that might not really be something that'll come intuitively with what's currently in place. Ultimately if a large portion of my group doesn't want to go to "the moon where we can't find the entrance" then I just have to concede to that 😩
||It's only the small blue flowers that lead you anywhere, everything else is just purely decoration, also not all paths lead to the main entrance, some will lead you to a bunch of fire exits||
Eventually I think I'll just throw the map I made for development with all the possible paths out here

speaking of which, ||how many brackens are supposed to be spawning outside? in LLL I see the max outside power set to 6 which i think means 2 brackens max? but during one of my late visits i saw like... 10? We play with LethalEscape and throughout the day they'd just been funneling outside and going past the power count, I think||

according to my LLL config they have an inside spawn weight of 2 🤔 but I'm not always sure if these numbers are an accurate reflection of what the final result will be

etern has been one of my go-to's for solos, usually I hear thudding before the ship lands lmao
much like my friends are wary of cosmocos they love going to etern, all because at one point we had like 7 nutcrackers chilling outside the ship (before navmeshes were fully functional I think) and I let myself get filled with lead to make them all kill each other
...then they just started shooting each other for fun because they didn't understand that shotgun ammo is a commodity lmao
I do kinda miss the nutcracker nuke waiting outside
But the late day chaos is worth it
usually too many giants out and about to really get a chance to go after them
the combination of not being able to move, and a giant coming towards you, definitely makes the surface terrifying

u should make it so instead they can spawn later in the day so u have to deal with chaos outside and try to get the shotgun
nothing, it's just that people are lost, spoilers on how the moon works: ||the way to the entrance always changes, you have to follow small blue "flowers?"/"shrooms?" to find it, but they're usually hidden behind trees or foliage and sometimes far away from eachother|| so people have trouble finding the entrance

depends which interior mod. if it's uppercase format, "Asteroid". if it's lowercase format, "asteroid". if it's level format (ex. TitanLevel), it's just "Asteroid" again.

i've warmed up to etern this is so fun
So I was playing Cosmocos with some friends and we had an issue where sometimes when dying, the game would crash. I unfortunately don’t have a crash log for this (I’ll try to reproduce this later and upload one if I can), but I’m wondering if this is a known issue.
Also wondering if the water that floods the facility in Atlantica has some kind of rhyme or reason to when it disappears? Sometimes it just disappears completely (which admittedly I prefer, the map looks great but the faux water effect makes it extremely difficult to explore when using custom interiors that have verticality like the castle since you basically can’t see in front of you at all even with a flashlight)
I’m not sure if it’s possible but some kind of config or even an in-game mechanic to drain the water would be nice.
Are there any known moons that don't work when the config's changed? other than Polarus I know that one
I found no problems in Asteroid, Atlantica, Infernis and Gratar. I have Acidir with the price changed, but I didn't check if it works.

Quick question tho, is there like any config to change the amt of glowsticks there are in a stack?
I feel like 3 per inventory slot would be a bit under what would be a bit sparse for attempting to navigate through a path of the size of an entire moon
Also (and this one isn’t really a big deal) are there more than one color of glowstick, just in case my other group members get confused on whether the glowstick path they’re going down was made by them or someone rlse
The glowsticks visually are in a stack of 3 that reduces when dropped, so it's not really an option atm. They're generally intended to be used while a group/team explores a section making them use multiple stacks (or as you said having them be more scarce). They're relativity cheap, so more intended to be used in abundance on high profit moons later on in the game as a safety investment c:

Crashed randomly on Cosmocos. Here's my log, not sure if it contains anything useful.
Not the first time I've crashed on Cosmocos specifically. I've generally had it happen when someone dies.
I must have missed something, but I don't seem to be able to get it to hide Cosmocos for direct navigation and require the scavenger hunt -- it shows up immediately. Our play group was hoping to have to do the puzzle side first, is there a way to enable that?
You can try an older version of the bundle (I think 2.0.11 was the last version before it was added)
That or you can install "Last Known Position of Cosmocos" with the current version of the bundle but Cosmocos will be available still

It's worth noting that a similar thing happens on Budapest, and I had this crash reported on Cosmocos and Budapest both since OpenBodyCams exacerbates the problem by rendering the world twice. Both moons crashed with the same native stack trace relating to shadow rendering

Is there some sort of configuration where I can alter the enemy spawns on the wesley moons? I do like the coil heads on asteroid-13 specifically, but with the others I'd rather have it with the normal few coming out at nighttime, instead of certain enemies at any time of day

@rain sonnet You need to approach it a little differently, than other moons. Staying in groups has been vital for me on Asteroid, it helps you a lot with the outside enemies 👍🏼

had to juke a giant in infernis using different vertical levels to escape or hide from it
i died because i had 50 tons of scrap on me and could barely run but it was very fun
wondering why i couldnt enter atlantis and seeing the water rising below me because i spent 5 mins killing loot bugs outside was super cool
Had an issue jumping through Polarus' moving ice blocks where me and a friend just went through and down into the sea that doesn't really drown. Is there any way to fix it or make the ice blocks just not move?

I believe they meant that they and their friend tried to parkour on the ice blocks that are floating over the water, and ended up falling through into the water, though they didn’t drown, since the water doesn’t go that low
That’s happened to me before, minus the clipping through the ice blocks
I used the advanced company’s flippers to swim through the water, and when i got low enough in the water, i ended up exiting out of it, falling to the bottom of the pit that was supposed to drown me
But since the water didn’t go that low, i ended up stuck at the bottom of the pit

i find that gratar's scrap is very numerous, usually two handed items, but theyre all kinda cheap
i always spend all day going back and forth evading eyeless dogs to bring stuff back and by the end of it its 200 something at most

afaik this could be an issue with configs of.. one of the mods, can't remember which but it somehow prevents the custom scrap from spawning

hey guys, i literally just joined the server so sorry if i'm uninitiated, but ive been making a modpack the past few weeks and I'm making cosmocos as the ultra-hard last moon (cause its such an awesome moon, I'm a huge fan), and i'm testing with a friend and we noticed that which parts of the map are open and where the blue lights path leads is different between us most of the time, i was reading a lil through the thread and saw someone suggest to do desyncs on purpose a while ago, so is that what's going on here or is this something else
i also like stripped down the modpack into just advanced company, chat commands and cosmocos (and the dependencies) and it still was happening so I'm guessing it's not a mod compatibility thing
(I'm actually so nervous to be messaging in here i feel like im in front a high council right now or sumn, like i dont know the rules or norms around here or if this is like a common thing thats happened)

People keep mentioning some sort of puzzle involving Cosmocos, are you supposed to unlock it or something? It's definitely just unlocked by default
There's the whole Last Known Location thing, but trying to route to that just does nothing
the initial release of cosmocos involved a puzzle that requires all of wesleys other moons to unlock it
(unlocking the moon was broken in multiplayer though so he just released it by itself)
wesley has a pattern of not syncing things between clients :P (will get fixed in LLL port)

LE loads moons by prefab injection which has literally different rules for networking which require explicit code
where as LLL loads moons as scene files which just are network spawned out of the box
I still won't go there (if I can even get my pack together again...) until we do the easter egg

The only REALLY bad desync issue I found was the Asteroid 13 lights just not working for clients
But Asteroid 13 is a map you only go to once and then never again anyways

Maybe it's just me, but coilheads aren't as much of a terrifying enemy as they are that enemy that when you see one it's more of a "Ah goddamn it, not again"
Like a coilhead production moon is a necessary evil, I get it, someone had to be the one to do it
But coilheads aren't scary, they're just an annoying major inconvenience

tip: they have a short attention span
if you backpedal enough without breaking line of sight and instead go too far from it while staring itll get bored and walk off anywhere else
interior this doesn't work very well unless you lock it with a door and run before it opens it (they have a delay)
but you can lose them
outside with a big exterior like asteroid13 you can do that fairly easy
inconveniencing, but possible
that said its normal to have favorites lol
not all moons are for everyone
If you're including modded ones that are meant to fit with vanilla you can't say that when Mimics exist
I don't count them as a lethal interior entity, since they can't kill you without irritating them.
They cannot kill you ever unless provoked. ;p
It's like calling a spore lizard a harmful entity when they are good bois
i like mimics, i just tuned the settings so that its very 50/50
either no mimics and rarely one, or a lot of doors and you need a shovel if you want to find out whichbones real
so its almost always obvious that theres mimics because you walk into a room and theres like 7 exits
no shovel? gamble time or find the entrance again

This LLL error occurs when trying to load a mod's interior onto Wesleys planets
This error was only seen on the moons: Asteroid-13 and Polarus
Of course, I could just remove the ability to spawn mod interiors on these moons, but that's too easy

Etern is excellent for getting a ton of loot||, and even better at having an outdoor Nutcracker snipe you from several yards away with a close range firearm, thus forcing you to lose your loot in solo||
I just don’t like the map layout tbh

Shotguns should be far more consistent up close, and usually less lethal at range due to having spread.
