has ShyHud ever caused your exp bar to bug out? I had my Exp bar bugging out on stream earlier
and I think it was NilsHud
Basically the xp gets static and fails to increase or reduce and the sound keeps playing
When we removed NilsHud and ShyHud it stopped doing it
ShyHud doesn't touch the exp bar so doubtful it's that

I wanna struggle to hear my friends through a wall or floor until they reach an open doorway, but again I know that might be very difficult

sounds like the players are leaning toward desync / just random chance, just a coindidence - if we get it again we'll downgrade and see if that makes a difference
i highly doubt it's mirage tbh, it doesn't touch loot notification sfx at all
and nothing in v1.5.0 has any major changes, they're just small bug fixes
We're guessing it's just a weird interaction - we use CollectYourDead which automatically loots the body when it gets TP'd, and Mirage turned the person being TP'd into a masked right when they hit the button - which then appears to have caused the loot sfx to loop. I don't even want to try and reproduce that for such a niche issue ๐

this game has no noise suppression

there's a mod for it but it doesn't work very well from my experience
other people can still clearly hear my keyboard

what if, the audio clips could be split up into letters (or voice patterns, i d k, im no audio expert)... and then when a player speaks and the masked "hears" it.. the words are fed into ChatGPT... who then responds to your mod with a valid reply, which is then turned into the player its mimicking's voice for the person to hear.
i feel like.. this is either going to be way too hard.. OR its just impossible... but this idea came to me when i was updating my modpack for the masked (which includes your mod btw)
i also assume, thats no quick reply, and would probably take a few seconds, which is why it probably wouldent work up close..
but for those "hey, billy, you alive?" moments through a wall.. "yeah im alive, glad to hear you are too buddy" as a reply.. may come delayed but still sound valid to a panicking player, meanwhile billy is actually long dead..., but, uh yeah.. of course, the person hearing the reply, may realise its not their friend, because everyone speaks differently.. i just thought, it would be nice if the masked could say words we havent said before.. to make them more "real" in the sense of pretending to be you.

Getting AI to regurgitate someone's voice back to them is not only an extremely slow operation to do currently, it also introduces a lot of privacy concerns and legality, on top of just not really being authentic. It stops being a "mimic" when it stops using your own words against your friends. This, instead, is just something speaking to you that sounds almost like your friend but speaks like a robot (we need to keep in mind that ChatGPT models written language, not spoken, and so wouldn't be suited for something like this in a natural way.) There are ways to make a concept like this work in, say, film or scripted game, but with AI voices they sound unnatural in the worst possible ways

i was suggesting the mod would split the audio up and store it on your pc, and then send TEXT to chatgpt, which then would reply with text.. and use that to play the correct audio to the player, but the "ai voice" thing is a big point.. xD

BUT.... when a masked spouts random text i said once, 50 times.. we all know its a masked.. hence why i set "no repeat"
but if it also says something completely out of context... like "well bob, im going to go to the ship for 5 mins, brb" when your already in the ship...
sure.. the words are dumb.. for the context.. but you instantly know its a masked.. so the more funny moments where the masked actually fool you into thinking they are a player.. are lost.
my most funny interaction with a masked was before i used voice mimicking mods.
i went to go to the main entrance, my friend was like "the entrance is up here" (new moon for me)
so i go up there, and i see a figure standing there... i walk up to them speaking to them.. and they turn around and kill me.
it turns out my friend went inside after saying "the entrance is up here" and at the exact same moment, a masked left.. and stood there... and it was dark, so i was totally caught off guard and killed.. and it was hilarious.
so Immersive is not the opposite of funny imho.
Its the contrast of the two that help LC work

I wont lie, it's very good, but there is sometimes these extremely LOUD static noises it takes audio clips of
that and it tends to take A LOT of audio clips
I know there's a mod that fixes that for mics but idk what
this static noises seems to be a dissonance issue
ive noticed people's voices sounding really staticy at times, and mirage records it the exact way dissonance provides the audio
brought back the duplicate masked enemy issue by accident ๐ญ
if you want to have less voice clips at a time you could try using the option that deletes recordings per round
switching to push to talk also helps, but i doubt that's something players in general would want to do

Not sure if its due to Mirage or LethalEscape or something else, but we keep having masked getting stuck on entrances. They can still kill you if you get to close but they just walk in place stuck. Any new masked created from kills are fine though.
at one point we had a group of 5 masked stuck on the main entrance all talking to each other... was pretty funny

We are on v50 and has been happening over the last few days, not sure exactly when it started. We are only on vanila moons we dont have any modded moons. Might have been related to lethal escape if no one else is reporting it, switched to starlancer escape to test stuff out later tonight with my group.

there's only like 2 settings that aren't synced AFAIK, which is explained in those specific descriptions

This is getting spammed EXTREMELY quickly on host only. I originally thought it was Masked Enemy Overhaul Fork, but the dev said it wasn't them. This is the only other mod I have that messes with Masks that I know of, so I'm asking if you know anything
while it's unlikely it's from mirage (i don't mess with enemy ais), i still want to confirm it myself just in case

Not sure if this is vanilla but my log file grows like a MB every five seconds when it happens due to just how fast it spams, and it like halves my FPS
i somewhat recognize this error as something that happened in the past, and it was more or less gone
which im assuming is because starlanceraifix gets rid of it, but i could be wrong

Nah this was happening over the course of like the last four updates, and this was the only mod that messed with masked other than Overhaul Fork which is why I posted it here. Granted I had Starlancer AI Fix as a dependency for something else in the v49 version of my pack so I may have unintentionally been dodging a bullet this whole time

The outside bracken on australis or whatever itโs called led to one of the best clips Iโve ever seen, I was in the ship and my friend was running loot back, and I saw in the screen something following close behind him. I teleport him since it looked like heโs about to die (I thought it was a giant or something), and from his POV he turns around, sees a bracken RIGHT behind him (like three feet away) and goes like HOLY SHIT

Is there any difference between Mirage and MaskedEnemyOverhaulFork + Skinwalker?
Skinwalker deletes the voice recording when you close the game,
with this you have a setting that let's you use audio from previous sessions.
Also skinwalker isn't synced between players
so when you hear a voice, others usually hear silence
with this every player will hear the same thing

nah my goal isn't to overtake MEOF, the reason mirage has a bunch of its features is because it makes sense as a baseline for boice mimicking with maskrf enemies.
the zombie apocalypse feature is for-fun and is better left to MEOF, so like necrowing mentioned, i dont plan on implementing that into mirage

you mean mirage + meof? theres a config you need to enable in MEOF to make it compatible with mirage, but other than that, it works fine together

Has anyone experienced the Masked being invisible sometimes (besides MoreCompany cosmetics)? Iโve had it happen sometimes on v49 and had it happen on v50 yesterday. Probably not caused by this mod but Iโm asking here since thereโs a higher likelihood someone ran into it here while messing with masked

it's a bug with the ship door; when you're in the ship and the door is closed enemy models stop rendering
its something to do with the game not realizing that the door is open and it should start rendering enemies again

Everyone was seeing it like that with the actual mimic being invisible, including the alive person
Notably this was not with all mimics, there was another mimic he ran into later in the same round that had their body visible
It's possible the other person that was alive was in the ship at that time (not sure where they were) but yeah
i have a mod suggestion for your modpack
add masked ai revamp but disable the behaviors so it's just the radar animation
not sure, I just experienced an issue whilst using MEOF where the masked enemy was completely invisible including cosmetics though
(I don't have mirage though so it won't be a mirage issue)
I am also using MEOF although tbh I can probably justify disabling it because the nametag feature is currently broken I think, and Mirage has all of the other functionality I'd need from it
I'll look into doing that in the meantime

haven't made a progress update in awhile so i figured i'd just mention it right now.
progress has been a bit slow because of a combination of previously trying to fix bugs for the content warning port of mirage, bug fixes for the lethal company version of mirage, as well just overall not spending enough time on v2 itself.
back on the v2 grind now, and as previously mentioned, i'll be rewriting the entire thing to have a better baseline to work off of, and then i'll be integrating oeis' work on the machine learning stuff after my rewrite is complete.
as for now, i've implemented SileroVAD for voice activity, and it's working really well with negligble performance cost (my fps looks the same as without it).
progress will be somewhat slow since i'm putting extra effort on making the rewrite more performant

yeah, i was just updating my mods and changing some settings, jumped into a moon, and im not wearing a headset, a masked was around,... and i started hearing a weird "squeak" like noise, but as i wasnt wearing my headset, i was like "eh?" and continued testing, i figured as i was on a moon id never played before (PsychSanctum) that it maybe just audio from the moon, also i installed some more mods (which i was testing), so could be related to one of them, but then i saw your comment and was like "interesting" o.o

I have my mic muted (mute toggle, not actually muted)

squeak thing is probably just mirage recording dissonance when it gave it bad audio
sometimes happens when dissonance bugs out

I would love if you could add hiding name tags. My friend group use a hide name tag mod on top of this but for some reason that mod also hides interaction Prompts
