i haven't played l4d2
the left4dead series has a mechanic called the director that changes events within a level to accommodate player performance
if you're doing really good it throws a strong enemy your way, if you're having a shitty time it spawns some better items
but most importantly based on a sprinkle of rng and a sprinkle of how you're doing in-game the routes you have to take within a level may change
maybe a hallway is blocked by debris so you have to look for another exit or choose a different path and it's just sooo cool
it makes having only 12 campaigns in the game still fun cuz they still change so much
and there's very few scripted sequences because of this, so it just stays soo fresh even after more than a decade

and with systems like the ones you're working on I'm sure letcom will also remain as such for a long time heheh

there's the tunnel of love that ends with the roller coaster
I love dark carnival but you could definitely get rid of the 3rd or 4th level
then the fair one that ends with the horde event that you gotta wait out, where the door opens n you gotta run
and THEN there's the band finale
That door opening segment is the only bad part about it
and the 1st and 2nd mentioned are infinitely harder than the actual finale

So in the assetbundle browser sort by filesize descending to get a vibe check
Theres three big steps
On your textures, set them all to max res 512, compression mode low compression. 99.9% of textures will look fine on this and you can change specific ones back if necessary after
On your audio, mostly your logs, convert to 128kbps mp3’s. Any online site should do it fine, Audacity can too.
The last one is something ideally I’d have a tool for but I don’t so. LLL knows what vanilla items and enemies you want in your SelectableLevel via name checks. This means I only need the name. So in your item and enemy prefabs made by the assetripper, remove pretty much everything aside from the empty parent. In the Item and Enemy scriptableobjects remove any references to prefabs and audio etc too

Enemies use the nodes as patrol/search markers. OutsideAINodes function for enemy spawn, map object spawn, and hazard/quicksand spawn. I do place a single node at each entrance, but @upbeat egret you'll want to have at least a few nodes near the entrances so that enemies can properly path away from the entrance if StarlancerEnemyEscape is active.
You can duplicate a node and swap the tag to SpawnDenialPoint (or somesuch) and it'll create a small zone at runtime preventing enemies from spawning (useful near entrances), but there's unfortunately not much to be done to narrow down nest positions short of coding something yourself

The main problem I’m seeing is that hoarding bugs spawning outside add to the power level of inside
So if there are too many outside, the inside will have nothing
im not sure how you do this, are you spawning them outside or placing them outside?

a bandaid solution could just be for everytime your yippee's spawn, increase the total power level by whatever the yipee added, but then your problem isnt actually gone cuz the yipees would still probably take up the spawn roulette
