#Lamang needs some ambience beyond the jungle sounds.

On a hunch, I decided to fill the dead-time in between start and contact with some ambient "tacticool" music (basically some low-key downtempo stuff from the 90's idea of "tactical") and realized how much more I enjoyed the game when the background wasnt just Lamang's admittedly half-decent jungle soundscape.

Try it. I encourage you to put up a 60-120sec "Fortunate Son"-like music of one of several during LZ insert/extract. That alone adds quite a bit to the atmosphere of the game. And filling in the travel time between me and a Point of Interest with some music really does add to the game for me.

Granted, I dont know how you'd want to do the ambient music when, say, a hostile is near, but thats more up to developer discretion if anything. Also most importantly: a mute button for the music if you do intend to add any more. Some REALLY want nothing but actual game sound to avoid being soundblinded by a sneaking pvper.

I don't want the immersive MMO-esque game to fill "gaps" with random music.

Especially if it intends to "fade it out" when you're approaching an encounter. I think we've all played games that ramp up the TENSE ENCOUNTER MUSIC and it's just such a huge tipoff and often pulls you out of the moment it's trying to build tension for.

...not to mention that huge tactical advantage that confers.

I'm happy for folks to fill their idle time however they want. Go nuts. I just don't want the game to be doing that.

That said, if you want the FOB radio to play something along those lines, sure. That's at least semi-grounded.

Okay, a compromise then:

Base Camp radio you can opt-in that plays random game music. Since its opt-in, only the ones who want it will get it.

Bonus if it gets affected by whatever future weirdness from Ground Zero happens and it gets all Roadside Picnic 0-60.
