I think it'd be awesome, and potentially address LZ camping, if we could buy a one-time use item maybe at level 4 with Handshake that is a parachute and effectively allows you to jump out of a heli that's mid route and descend from the heli at some point along the flight path.

The Pros:

  • You could technically land in the middle of loot run or closer to a task objective. Heck, you could even land on top of a building if you wanted. It'd be a death sentence, but you could do it and offer sniper support for your buddies.
  • This would be a cool solution to LZ camping
  • Get places easier

The Cons/Balances:

  • Maybe it's a really rare loot item
  • It'd take up your backpack slot
  • It's a one time use (Similar to mortars)
  • Maybe you'd be able to purchase it at tier 4 with one of the equipment oriented vendors

Other Notes:

  • You could potentially have different tiers. Maybe the lower tier one has the potential to damage your legs when you land and is really bright colored or loud so it draws attention more. Higher tier ones wouldn't damage you and are maybe smaller, less conspicuous?
The lower tier could also offer no guidance, like literally you fall straight down, while the higher tier maybe allows for a little more mobility in the air

Interested to hear your thoughts on this!

You wouldn't want to jump out of a chopper - chute or not - at the altitudes we're flying.

Just not going to work out for you.

Easy there boys, just trying to think of solutions and fun options. I'm sorry I didn't check other suggestions first.

Not really the vibe I'd go for but if there was say 1 or 2 unique missions where you're team had to rally at a remote airstrip, board a little Casa C-212 and you got to jump into a specific site as a squad for this one off mission then maybe Im on board. But I feel parachutes really just would completely change the gameplay if everyone is just magically popping out of the sky. As someone who used to jump, i don't think people realize how much coordination, logistics, planning, time and risk goes into airborne ops. People aren;t just pulling a chute off the shelf and winging their ops, and especially on the contractor side. I would however be very down if there were certain times and events where we had enemy who were dropped in and we had to contend with on very rare occasions. Then we could at least explain it in a logical manner why and how they got there and it would feel organic and organized. But man, next thing guys would want would be squirel suits and flying around like bf2042 or whatever it is. Airborne ops are dope but not sure if GZW is the fit. Arma is dope when groups put on big organized events using airborne stuff, works well in one off scenarios.

Try dropping an chunk of meat on an anthill.

That's what will happen if you didn't immediately break every bone in your body on impact, as you're too low for safe chute deployment.
