The AI was already controlling the momentum and the defenders’ movements, and it was bad enough—you felt like you were watching the game more than actually playing it in some matches. But after the last update, it’s even worse. Now the AI seems to control the players you’re actively controlling as well—deciding when to shield the ball, jockey, or even what type of shot to take. Sometimes it randomly slows defenders down or speeds them up in a very weird, broken way.
The gameplay has become a complete joke. I honestly don’t get why we keep playing it anymore—maybe it’s just habit at this point. They might as well introduce a “watch mode” where we just sit and watch matches and bet on who will win, because that’s basically what we’re already doing. You can play a few matches and from the very beginning feel whether the AI is with you or against you.
As a software engineer, I can imagine what’s happening behind the scenes. It feels like EA is heavily using LLMs in building and developing the game now. The updates seem to aim for something similar to an LLM response—they give you an outcome that might be technically correct, but it’s boring and never really feels satisfying.
The game is losing what made it fun and is turning into an AI-driven joke.
