#"We hear you"...but not for legacy defending and midfield issues.

EA told us all last year that they "heard us" amidst all the complaints regarding gameplay and other things for EA FC 26. Their trailers and gameplay videos showing the various things that they improved on looked great.

It's now March 2026, and it's ridiculously easy to lament how AWFUL AI defending and midfield defending logic is ONCE AGAIN with the game. I'd LOVE for a dev to chime in on this, but I've dropped my own personal feelings that they actually don't care about fixing the issue and now (assumingly) sum it up to one thing: the Frostbite engine. Every year the devs (I believe) compile code on top of old code and fail to fix one of the biggest and most glaring issues in the game that would make it an amazing product.

Backs leave their positions to chase down an attacker that has the ball, leaving massive holes that any player with decent pace can run into. The midfield in itself is just one big hole most of the time because, despite tactics, once your mids move forward into the attacking third of the pitch, they forget that they have to get back into shape. Defending angles/lanes and having the knowledge to cut off a pass or attacker just aren't there...until (very infrequently) the AI decides to go beast mode for that scripted play and just cut you off or go-go gadget legs a pass (if you get the reference you're a legend lol).

I'm an "unc" as the younger kids say and have been playing FIFA/EA FC since 1994. It's one of the games I play year in and out without fail. But the game I've loved for soooo long really needs to take a look in the mirror and prioritize its player base and its CORE gameplay mechanics as much as the Board prioritize microtransactions.

If ANY of the devs or higher-ups see this...PLEASE "hear us" for our gripes that would really help the game be the product we all really want it to be and ACTUALLY make gameplay better.

Signed,

A lifelong fan and hopeful fool (lol)
