Premise: FC is a football game that should represent the game of football and its logic at his best.
The main problem i feel here is that people don't know what they really want because problems in-game are consequences from what the some of the community asked:
- unique experience every game (inconsistent gameplay (a problem from fifa 15/16));
- stress the difference in attributes between players to make esswein, sissoko, bailly, ... disappear (and you've gladly done it because it pushed packs and points (a problem from fifa 18))
- change the core of the gameplay every year to avoid flatness (but football itself as a game has its core and its balance (a problem from fifa 18))
To explain all of this i'll use defending and pressing (defending high) as an example:
In-game we have attackers that have no high defensive attributes (fair and real) so their positioning and their skills to win the ball is not effective and 2nd-man-press nerfed to the ground (because people wrongly think that is not skill). This make pressing almost impossible, so people are forced to defend low with a low-block, (most difficult scenario for an attacking team in real football too) because it's the only way to defend effectively. To this tactical football approach you need to add the difference in defending you wanted to stress between players (defenders from attackers e.g.), so you gave CBs 'insane' abilities compared to attackers. The problem is for defenders to feel good they should be able to defend while they are not controlled, because in case of controlling them people won't feel the difference in abilities too much and could mistake their ability to defend as a gamer with the card ability. The ending result is that people will select their attackers or midfielders and let CPU defend because of this.
This is an example for what the situation is defending-wise and it is linked with every aspect of the game, because pressing is too hard also because of passing assistance, etc...
