Hi everyone! I wanted to start al discussion about why Carlos Tevez should be reclassified from Hero to ICON.
While the current Icons are legends in their own right, "El Apache" has a resume that is objectively as strong—or stronger—than many current Icons rated 90 or below (like Michael Owen, Ashley Cole, Roy Keane, or John Barnes). This isn’t about downplaying their greatness, but about recognizing that Tevez belongs in that same bracket of global legends.
Small Recap of Tevez career :
Tevez is one of the very few players to have won both the UEFA Champions League (Man Utd) and the Copa Libertadores (Boca Juniors), being the MVP in the latter.
He didn't just play in multiple leagues; he won them all. He has 9 domestic league titles across 4 different countries: Argentina, Brazil, England (3x Premier League), and Italy (2x Serie A).
3x consecutive South American Footballer of the Year (a feat shared only with legends like Zico and Elias Figueroa).
Serie A Player of the Year (2014-15) and Premier League Golden Boot winner.
Olympic Golden Boot winner (8 goals in 6 games) leading Argentina to a historic Gold Medal in 2004.
When you look at Icon cards like Ian Wright (1 PL title) or John Barnes (2 English titles), Tevez’s global trophy cabinet and his status as a "Player of the Year" in three different top-tier leagues (Brasileirao, Premier, SerieA) clearly puts him at an Icon level. Even compared to defensive legends like Gattuso or Roy Keane, Tevez matches their winning intensity while adding a level of individual dominance and versatility that defined an entire era of football in both hemispheres.
Tevez was more than a hero, he is a an Icon. Even after coming back to Boca Juniors from playing a Champions League final in 2015, he won the nation cup (Copa Argentina) and the league. Won 5 more titles.
I´m not triying to disrespect any Icon, just feels off seeing Crespo, Hernandez, and other when Tevez gets to be a Hero bit almost no Special Cards.
