Attacking players who have very low defending stats (under 40) currently perform tackles and jockeying with unrealistically high success rates. It doesn’t make sense that strikers, wingers, or CAMs with around 30 defending can defend almost as effectively as defenders who have 80+ defending.
There needs to be a much stronger distinction between players who are good at defending and those who aren’t. For example, defenders with low dribbling or shooting stats perform poorly when used in attack — which feels accurate and balanced. However, the same level of realism doesn’t apply when it comes to defending with attacking players.
If attempting to tackle or defend with attackers who have very poor defensive attributes carried a real risk — such as more failed tackles, higher foul likelihood, or potential yellow cards — it would create a more balanced experience. Players would have to think twice before defending aggressively with attackers, instead of being able to rely on them unrealistically.
This adjustment would make attacking more enjoyable and fair, since players wouldn’t constantly be tackled by opposing attackers. Overall, it would help produce a more rounded and balanced gameplay experience.
