The competitive experience in EA FC 26 is being severely hampered by overly automated defensive AI. Players are being rewarded for doing nothing — literally. Just position a defensive midfielder and let the artificial intelligence do the work: intercept, tackle, block. All without any real intervention from the player.
This destroys the skill gap, which is precisely what separates the good from the great. In a competitive environment, every action should be the result of decision-making, reflexes, and skill. But when AI takes control, merit disappears. The game rewards passivity instead of proactivity.
No competitive mode should work like this. Players need to be rewarded for their game reading, timing, and execution — not for letting the AI play for them. If we want a fair and truly competitive scenario, it is essential that defense returns to being manual, responsive, and challenging.
EA needs to review this urgently. Competitive play deserves respect. And players deserve recognition for their actions — not for automatism.
